Question about Sony CDP XE270 CD Player

1 Answer

Cdp-xe270 no RCA jacks

I aquired this unit from a business and the RCA/phono jacks have been removed, some kind of modification I guess, meaning I cannot connect to my system. Where can I get the part/s?
Thanks, Tony

welcomejeeThis is new to me so I hope I am 'pressing' the right buttons to get back to you!
I just removed the top and inside it looks as though the circuit board is there, just two hole in the outer case where the RCA's should be and they are taped over. The digital=out optical connection is intact and connected to the circuit board as bets as I can tell.
    Thanks, Tony

on looking closer at the circuit board, it looks as though a tiny connector has been 'snipped'

  • jaw4 Jan 17, 2009

Thankyou! Based on what I said about the snipped item. Do I need any other parts?
Looking at the circuit board I can see the back of the out optical sitting on the board and immediately in front of it a tiny strip of core about 1/2 inch looks like the same piece of core 'wire' goes in place in front of the RCA' I correct?
I can solder but do not have technical knowledge beyond what I see needs fixing visibly!

Thankyou! I will order the part.....great help!
OK Can I ask another one? I have a Harman Kardon CDR 26.
3-4 years old and the left [player only] door sticks.
When I first power it on I press the open door and have to tap it several times quite hard and then it opens. For the rest of the 'session' it will open normally......shut it off and re-power it and it'll happen again.
I've had the top off and can see nothing out of the ordinary or sticking/catching at all in the mechanism!

Thankyou and I have ordered the part for the Sony!
    Have a nice day,

    Hi again,
Below is an image of PCB where I marked solder points (3) for required jack.

Above said jack has its own pins which will fix in PCB and its body will be tightened with screw at rear.

I hope this will help you.

I do not have manual of Harman Kardon CDR 26
If I have its service manual then I can suggest solution over internet.
You can have its service manual from Manual Zone for small fee to carry out repair properly.
Thank you, it was nice experience to help you out in Sony CD Player.

How do i connect a dvd player to a sound mixer unit.

Connect the dvd audio outs, normally red and white phono jacks, to the inputs of your mixer. You may need phono to 1/4" phone jack adapters to do this, but they are available at Radio Shack, but hurry as they are going out of business.

Rca 5 disc changer rs2130i

Buy a lead with headphone jack to red and white RCA/phono. Jack goes to iPad/iPhone/MP3 player. Red and white goes to Aux/Game/Line input socket if the unit has one. Play your music.

Typically, the cable would be a mini phone jack cable. The connectors would be called either 3.5 millimeter or 1/8" phone plugs. Some cables have the 1/8" jack on one end and the other end might have 2 RCA connectors. The RCA connectors are also called phono plugs. According to the specs I have found, the system has both phono jack and a mini phone jack. The cheapest solution is a 1/8" stereo male to 1/8" stereo male mini phone cable. I want to know what kind of chord or jack i need to hook my ipod and phone to my yamaha head unit model number htr-5440

Any audio device that has a headphone output can be adapted to feed an RCA cable pair for standard stereo to any audio device with a standard RCA input (except one labeled "PHONO").

Get a cable like the one described here:

and connect it into any available analog input on ANY audio device EXCEPT one labeled "Phono".

If the receiver doesn't have a function specifically named PHONO, yes. Very few AVR's have phono preamps. They're not expensive. I'd check eBay.

Broken RCA / phono jack - where to find new part?

You can buy Panel mount RCA (Phono) jacks at Radioshack, I think a 4 pack is less than 5 bucks, That should take care of your problem.

I have a aiwa cx-na77, how do I connect it to a tv so that I hear the tv sound on the aiwa speakers

If it has an "AUX" input or any other type of RCA jacks for an input, you can connect the TV RCA audio jacks output to the input RCA jacks of the Aiwa.

That's what you would need.

RCA audio outputs on the TV

RCA audio input on the Aiwa

Just look at the back of each unit and see if it has them. RCA audio jacks are the small circular red and white jacks. They will be labed on each unit what they are for. You need output jacks on the TV and input jacks (but not for phono) on the Aiwa.
