I'd pass that on, it is food for thought.

I sent Lauren the skinny on this bad expert I came across 3 out of 27 locked FixYas. All the answers google pasted from Wiki sites. The thing is the answers are right, but the unlocked vote is what got me. Too bad he really really over did it and used other accounts and a collaborator. Took me long enough to verify the collaborator.

Did I send you the link to the " buy my book" site on how to repair the PS3? They have a section called "Latest News", its all fixya Asker posts for the PS3. The boss is going to have fun with this poor soul. I hope he has some deep pockets.

I found a repair book for the PS3, that used hits for PS3 problems off of fixya using the RSS feeds, this was a pay to play web page so I sent that off to Lauren. Its in the hands of higher ups right now. I feel sorry for the S.O.B. that lifted the FixYa Answers, they really messed with the wrong people.

I don't know what Ekse found, back in the day, I would have gone far to have him on my team.

How I stumble on this stuff still amazes me. Its just a 'thing' and when I dig I always seem to be right on how wrong it is more than not.

So, the link where this is stuff is at:
    http://www.squidoo.com/ps3-repair#module...
You have to scroll down the page a bit under "Latest News" its all posts from FixYa Answers on the PS3 via RSS Feeds. Too bad the dude is trying to make money or the owner would just shine this one; and appropriately so. But, to make quick bucks and use FixYa... not a smart move with our owner at FixYa. I rather feel sorry for this poor b.a.s.tard. His pockets are not deep enough to revover from what is going to land on his desk.

Yes, that's right, it is the same with all the brand oem builders and vendors. On product release there is no support. Still, more often than not, try this, the board chips, north and south, audio, vga etc almost always appear in a laptop first and then the desktop. So, this is hard to do but, using tech support boards you should be able to find the board drivers for the laptop using the same chipset if you look hard enough. I had to just recently and just reinforced what I knew but hadn't had to rely upon too often.

Most systems I support, I build, so I don't adopt anything version 1.0, primarily the BIOS. I wait or use a board that had some history in use.

So, good hunting, those drivers are out there you are just going to have to use DogPile or another site like that to find references to the drivers.

I still call it Easter Egg hunting. I didn't see the reference to a what F6 driver? in your original problem on the dirver thing. But you're right, one F6 Driver is as good as the next. I never rely on MS when they state in OS Repair mode that it (Windows) already has found the best driver.

Same thing with MS Uupdate on drivers. Want to kill a Realtek HD surround system? Let MS Update download and install what it thinks is a better driver. This all harkens back to the driver signing and MS qualification obstacle course for manufacturers. Most manufacturers give MS the finger over certifying their drivers anymore. So, MS wil install an old out of date drive that somehow got passed on certificaiton.

I think you're right about something else going on in Ginko's life. I know he had to give up his store a year ago and that could be and mean anything.

The thing is, he is a great expert, who in times gone by you weren't here for, things ran willy-nilly on answers and place holding was a race to be first. You should have seen that stuff. I actully made more on PQs back then because I took just as much time as I do now to compose a solution and back then the customer saw all the solutions at once which made it easier to pick threw the BS. But, Ginko carried some old habits most of which he has abandoned. He and Ekse used to get into some real knock down drag out fights over this, but Ginko always, always manned up and graciously backed down when wrong. That's not happening now which is what concerns me.

Hist attacking Lauren by using the L. term is a double entandrre that can't be escaped or excused.

This is it for me tonight. My legs finally are calming down. I can't wait to get started on this vitamin therapy and let the docs dig further as to the root cause.

When I saw my RA doc the other day. And I've been seeing him since '96 in the VA of all places that's rare, he really got concerned. The only other time he was that concerned was when I really had bad RA in my hands from... working on a car and may have needed to have a break to realign the joint.

I finally did a Web MD search on Vitamin D deficiency and I am going to guess this is a real issue among the homeless over fifty men and women due to malnutrition. Well, I've got a lady in my house so not eating right is sort of out of the question since we are both products of the sixties and seventies.

Oh, you may find this cool. I'm on the board for a kids at risk non profit that's more of a foundation then non profit as we raise money and give it away. I found in our little town we have six families with autistic children. These kids really perform well in the classroom at a computer. So, I wanted "us" to buy net books for these families and use solid state hard drives so there are no moving parts for the kids to damage on accidents and allow the Moms to continue after school work at a PC they aren't afraid the child will destroy by accident. I got the go ahead to get one and setup the software based on the Moms and the Teacher. The president was astonished I only wanted to buy one. So, I reminded him we needed to do one first to find what the other five would need. Wow. This is cool to have an impact in the community in this way.

Since these are gamers the opportunity is just too hard to resist, lol. I just hope that they stay within the own little "one ring circus". I can see why Lauren appreciates pictures for avatar though that will never change.
However, businesses like PayPal will allow one the use of their services but will add the designation "Verified" once you complete that verification procedure. Might be an idea in this concept for FixYa's consideration. Steve

I would like to see that link. Ekse posted a repair book posted that was copy & pasted info for sale.

I see a lot of references to old cowboy and gangster movie dialogue from our Eastern friends. Maybe Hollywood has glamorized outlaw entrepeneurs to the third world (though nuclear worlds) through our history. Maybe Bonanza and Gunsmoke should be syndicated there exclusively for awhile ;) Steve

I was just venting on my poor Microsoft staffer friend for Microsoft not being more proactive about the PC support community in general. Thanks for the link! I am expecting the owner of this hotel to return from India soon. I have many questions for him after seeing what we see concerning the oversight of the education of India's technical support personnel.

I am now working on an HP Pavilion a747c with SATA and PATA drives that I cannot find ANY reference to the BIOS settings in their support. Ironically their support docs for that model say "Problem's like hal.dll missing..." are not addressed here when that exact problem is the third one I have seen in as many weeks! HP support seems to vary by model with some newer ones getting less support than older ones! Not a good direction~ Steve

Actually I did my driver hunting via cds that I have for other cd models and bingo! It wasn't even for the same dvd writer  but there must have been a dll or inf file that this new model liked, lol. We used to call that Easter-egging in a derogatory sense -now it is sort of a "focused shotgun" knowing that most, if not all dlls are recycled ;)

After a significant Vista update for my Fuji Lifebook I lost my fingerprint functionality and Internet Explorer! Uninstalling that update gave me partial functionality and IE I have to run by right-clicking and "run as admin". I will have to reinstall Vista. "Hidden" updates for bug fixes or security holes that they want not to address would have me walking in circles with their MVPs for hours. I feel like going to Apple for help, lol.

btw, glad you "talked" to ginko. I was beginning to wonder if he was being sabotaged by a fractious nephew or roommate but I think that he has gone too far to back step. That would take maturity and humility. I personally have eaten crow and found it to be the only way out when I spoke or acted presumptuously and was just plain wrong. I have given him a gracious way out or in and he did not or appreciate that so it just made me want to hand him a bigger shovel.

You saw how I lit into Robert (bunnydawg) after his laptop CMOS thing yet we both grew past that -quickly and without a last word -with a new dialogue. You did try to help ginko and he did not heed.

Well God bless him and his but as the old saying goes "The Lord help those who help themselves." I am more spiritual than religious but believe we are collectively all a part of a bigger thing and like an immune system works to heal or purge. Ekse is another one that I have debated with on real issues but maintain a mutual respect.

Lol, I even called Toyota Ed and Dark Viper "girls" once when I had been here less than a week but I was right and it was a silly issue anyway. We that have worked in the real world where we have to respect each other and point out constructive views then start over on a new issue as a team is what longevity in an ever-evolving world is all about.

And Lauren is a blessing as well as a real person -here or anywhere else. And I consider you the same.

Last here too -it is late. It is great to have the opportunity you have to help those kids and their families by proxy. I see more help for pets on tv than for kids sometimes. Good joss!

As for your RA. My exs Dad was racked with pain for that and our landlord, a friend today still is a river boat Viet Nam vet turned chiropractor in Kaneohe, Hawaii. He had some good knowledge of natural medicines for that. He is Dr. Rand Pellegrino. Google that name and you may find something. Have a great Sunday!

I have not used my DS for a while and now when I switch it on with the SDHC card in a mesage is revealed reading: system date error please check NDS system

Yesterday (31/April) I was doing a Google search on the R4i "System Date Error" problem and found the solution! Check out this blog post:

http://www.nds-gear.co.uk/blog/2010/05/nds-gear-solves-r4i-sdhc-system-date-error-problem/

Follow the instructions and use their software (for genuine R4i-SDHC cards only of course) and problem should be solved! Worked for me on a regular DSi console with the original R4i SDHC card, 4GB memory.

I have a dsi with an r4i card. was working fine, now it wont load with message saying system date error!please check nds system date. can anyone help?

Fastest way is to change your system date. I got an r5i rev. and got today the same prob. I put the card out set the system date to the 01,12,2000 and working again. Its the fastest way to solve but when the date comes again on it will do the same again. What i understand it has something to do with the 1.2v from kernel. I´m searching now for my one for the 1.18v kernel. What i read it has to work fine with that.

I want to remove time and date from showing on screen, i have the sony sr45 handycam

Download the user manual from this link

http://www.docs.sony.com/release/HDRHC5.pdf

Please read page 17 (Step 3). After setting the date and time, go to page 61 and follow the instruction on how to turn on and off the date or date/time on the pictures and/or video. (Notice that you have to start a few pages before page 61 to get into setup mode.
