Red light stays on

I have the hoover model that has a red and green light feature, normally after vacumning a few minutes the red turns to green meaning the carpet is clean, however the red light continues to stay on, what could be the problem? I know my carpet is not that dirty!!

I have the same vacuum and the same problem. The red light has been on for months! I tried the solution that RedDevil suggested, but I do not see any disk when I disconnect the hose from the vacuum. The disk must be in the curve and I just can't see it. Guess I will just live with the red light always being on.

It sounds like the plates inside the vacuum that detect the dirt have become dirty. I don't remember where they are, but I think they're accessible if you remove a certain hose. Again, I don't know which hose it is.

Take the cleaner to a hoover repair shop. The unit carries a 3 year warranty. There is a board (repair part) that goes inside the unit and they need to order you a new one. These machines have had this problem. They just ordered the part for my unit and should have it installed by next week.

You can test the board by crossing the 2 connectors to "close" the circuit for the mic (small black and blue wire) while vac is running and light should go to red every time you complete the circuit. WARNING: There will be exposed electrical points on board that could cause an electrical shock!!! or damage to board if not just crossing mic connections.

The red light keeps blinking while I have the charger plugged in, is this normal?

Hi! If the light on the charger is blinking this can mean an issue with your charger adaptor. Check that the charger is still warm. If so, unplug the charger for a few minutes and plug it back in. If the light is still blinking your charger adaptor may need to be replaced. Hope this helps!

Uh70015 dirt sensor stays on green. Goes on red for about 5 seconds then green. Can clearly see the floor is dirty and it is picking up stuff.

ahh the good ol electronics on vacuums selling the product again...

not to worry, your feature is working properly, your vacuum is working fine too.

Imagine if you will making a circle with your pointer finger and your thumb. Now put a string or thread across in a straight line there. The string would be the size of the beam of light that the sensor uses. Your finger and thumb are about the size of the tube that the dirt and dust is passing by. Unless the dirt passes and cuts through the beam of light, then it will register. otherwise if it passes around the beam of light, the sensor thinks your carpet is clean.

The opposite sometimes will happen too where it will stay constant red. That means that the sensor is completely covered in dirt and will not register anymore.

Hope this helps.

Embedded dirt finder light stuck

The Hoover uses a small microphone that is positioned in the plastic housing that the end of the hose fits into, just behind the bag compartment. What happens is that when dirt comes up the hose and hits the 90 degree corner, just before it enters the bag, the microphone picks up the sound and transmits that info to the electonics that controls the lights. Sometimes the microphone will stick and the red light will stay lit. If you take a screwdriver and give the microphone area a sharp tap with the handle of the screwdriver, this will often jar the microphone and it will begin working again. If not, it may need to be replaced. NOTE: this function does not affect the cleaning efficiency of the vacuum. Your vacuum will still work normally whether the dirt sensor is working or not. It is a totally unrelated function to the vacuum itself.

Dirt finder

The sensor may be bad, or it may be coated over with dirt. Re,ove the hose at the back of the vacuum, the head of the sensor is down inside that opening, reach in there and clean it off and see it that corrects the problem, if not replace the sensor.

Embedded Dirt Finder green light won't come back on - stays red

The dirt sensor is a motion detector. After it gets dirty it will either stay red or stay green. You can have the vacuum serviced at your local vac shop and possibly get this fixed. Sometimes they are as good as new and sometimes they are not repairable. It will not effect anything else though.
