My garage door will only open half way. It appears to be getting stuck when it is opening.

If you haven't gotten your issue fixed yet... I had the same problem (stopped opening half way when using the remote, went down fine, could lift/close manually fine as well) and this happened on our first cold weather day of the year which was very telling. Anyhow, there are two gauges/dials on your garage door opener unit itself (above, where the light is) which controls how much torque/strength your door uses to open or shut through resistance. I turned mine up some and it now works fine; what likely happened was that the metal tracks or the wood frame condensed in the cold and was providing just enough resistance to stop it when opening - as they have a security device built in to stop if they meet any resistance. Hopefully this helps!

It sounds like the door is traveling too far, hitting the floor and then reversing to the open position. If this is the case you need to locate the 'down limit' control on the side of the motor unit and turn it a bit in the opposite direction of the arrow printed on the cover. Some tweaking may be necessary to get it just right.

It is normal for that small green light to flash randomly. It can also assist in diagnosing some problems by flashing a code. It will flash a number of times and then pause and then repeat. If this is the case, post the number of flashes.

Wow you have an old opener. You should be able to bend one of the pieces so that they stay closer together. Just in case this doesn't work that part is still available at Sears Parts. The part number is 1A35QB and the price is $12.09.

Stripping plastic drive gear in Chamberlain opener: Won't lift

If you are a do it yourselfer you can do it. The new part can be bought at any good door opener company and they will most certainly have them on the shelf. The part should come with a set of instructions. Don't let them sell you a part without the instructions. The part number is 41A2817 Drive Gear. If you do find the job is to much for you they will gladly install it for you for the labor costs. One plus is that they will also check and service the door for you. Door maintenance gets overlooked most of the time.

Motor will not perform a complete cycle sears 139.53675SRT1

I spent 30 minutes on this site and couldn't find the answer, then I was redirected to another post on this site after doing a different google search. User lftmstr1245r offered this advice in July 2008:

"The problem lies in the RPM sensor, most likely due to the interrupter cup assembly. The interrupter cup assembly is the black cap that runs through the RPM sensor. You may have forgotten to re-attach this piece or it is probably moving too far out when the garage sets in motion. To fix this, remove the cup assembly, unscrew the two screws on the top metal piece with a 1/8 allen wrench, push the metal piece as far in as possible and put the screws back on. This will give more room for the cup assembly to spin and be read by the RPM sensor. Hope this helps!"

CRAFTSMAN 1/2 HP OPENER

Ok well the best advise I can give you is to open up your opener case should be a 1/4 nut driver or a Philips head screw driver. Make sure to unplug it first. Once the case is off, find a reqtangle black box with three white plastic screws they are what controls the limits. Chances are they got knocked off wheny ou were putting in the gear. check to make sure the wires are hooked up and find the placement of the limits make sure they can touch each other. Little tip I do for my customs is get a piece of sand paper and rub it agaist the metal contacts for the limits only. (after time lift master openers bind up a film and dont stop where they supposed to.) If your still not sure how the limits work plus in the opener and run it make sure not to put your hands inside the opener and nothing esle is in the way. Then adjest the limits as needed. That should take care of you if not go ahead and make another post ill check back with you.

Garage Door Openenr Motor Buzz

Look at your manuel find the page that shows the limit access switch. (Unplug your opener.) It isn't really a switch, but the three white plastic screw like parts. The center has a brown wire connected to it, which has a metal piece that is as wide as all three white screws. The outside screws are your limit access stop guides, one for the up control stop guide and the other for the down control stop guide. If the center screw with the metal part gets caught behind on of the stop guides the motor will not engage. Gently move metal piece from behind the stop guide.

You need a gear kit. Amazon sells them. I got mine at a Sears Service center. Beware that you will need to completely disassemble your unit to replace the gears.
