Re: can not get channel 12
The problem is not with the TV cable box or you would have no reception of any channel, the transmitter for 12 may be down or the repeater that sends it out from the satellite may be down or the satellite may have an issue, it is not the converter box

You can try using the code search function to find something that will work. If you search through all codes stored in the remote without success, you may have to try another universal remote. Every universal remote does not store all possible codes.
Your GE universal remote should have a code search function which allows you to find a code for your zinwell converter box. Also, your Zinwell box instructions may advise you of what it is equivalent to (uses the same codes as)
I assume, that the TV is skipping chan 3 when using the Channel buttons on the TV.
You can try 2 things.. First see if your converter box will use chn 4. Usually there will be a very small switch on the back of the box marked with a small 3 on one side and 4 on the other. If so, use that till you get a replacement remote.
If that's not an option, you can also, Re-scan the channels on the TV. to find all available chn for memory.. BUT FIRST making sure that the converter box is on and working.
The TV shuold then detect that there is a signal on chn 3 and make it available to the chn buttons on the set.
You will have to use the menu buttons on the set to do this.. Hopefully one of the buttons is the menu call up, then you use vol or chn buttons to navigate it.
Hope this helps
OK, I have a Zinwell box that was working perfectly until a friend tried it in his new apartment. Two problems (a) he misplaced the remote over there, and (b) he reprogrammed it so it now only gets four crappy channels instead of the previous fifteen. Will try to get him to search for remote. Meanwhile ar 4am: I have two universal remotes, old Magnavox and newish Ptimesat. Primesat looks good but doesn't seem to have search fubction -- does it> Tried to get Zinwell to work on Aux wth code 591 but no luck, Search on Magnavox got one partial result but failed again. Help? (b) Is there any way to reprogram the box manually, without a remote? I want my channels!
Good day, I might be missing something here, but if YourTV has the basic controls on the TV itself, such as on/off volume, and channel select, then just turn on tv, and set it to channel 3. Use your converter box remote to scan for channels, and other options it has as needed.
Depending on type of antenna you have on the box the signal maybe too weak. But first try to lock channel 03 into your set. go to menu and add 03 where it has add/delete channels. If this still does not work select channel 04 and set your converter box switch to channel 4. This should do it.
