If the engine has a float type carburetor, remove the float cover and see if the float is hung in the down position. If so free it up and make sure it will now operate freely up and down. If not and the bowl is full of crud, you will have to remove and clean the carb.

If it is stalling, first change the plug as it could be flooding because you do not have hot enough spark. Never hurts to change plug anyway. Make sure you gas is good if it is old this could cause this..

Another thing to check is if you have spark and it starts and stall right away you could have a bad key under the flywheel . if this is broke it will throw the timing off. a good way to check this is this, take out the plug and remove the cover around the flywheel. this is the cover that has the rope on it. after you remove the flywheel cover and the plug you can stick a pencil in the cylinder where you took out the spark plug, then turn the flywheel by hand and as the magnet turns by the coil or magneto your pencil should come out of the whole indicating the piston in the up posistion. When the magnet on the flywheel passes the coil this must be on the up stroke of the motor or compression stroke so to say. when the magnet passes this is what causes to plug to fire. If your key is broken the flywheel will slip and it may try to fire when the piston is not all the up(timing off) the motor will never run. This is a fairly simple job and should only take an hour or so. you may need a wheel puller to do it or be very careful.

good luck

Check your valve adjustment. Valves can be safely set at .004 for both intake and exhaust. Give this a try and see what happens. I would be interested in how you make out. GOOD LUCK FREIND.

Check this page,
Two stage snow blowers all tend to have sheer pins
I would suspect that the holes seen in the picture are for the sheer pin, check with club cadet, figure same as auger pins, if so feel for the hole with your finger then inser a short nail till you feel a rough spot then tap with a hammer till it comes out, otherwise you have to take the mess apart completely.

My MTD 10hp auger will not turn. I adjusted the auger cable by tightening the bolt on the handle. I disconnected the spark plug and checked the shear pins on both sides of the auger. They are both still...

Yes there are 2 belts one for the drive and one for the auger. If you remove the cover on top that is located between the engine and the auger housing you can check the belts. The auger belt has come off the pulley or is broken. Hope this helps you out. Best regards and good luck.

the impeller is held on the shaft with roll pins, perhaps they have sheared off. try to turn the impeller by hand (with engine off) if it turns and nothing else does, look for some cross holes there should be 1 or 2. A good hardware store will have replacements. Use a punch with a blunt end to knock out the pieces that are left, and take them for sizing the replacements. Good luck CB
