Question about Peavey 00511800 Escort Portable Sound System with Stand

1 Answer

Peavey escort Hi Today I had some trouble with my Peavey Escort, I heard a popping sound the last time I used it and presumed it was my radio mic, so I changed the batteries and it did not happen anymore, then I used it again today I has running from it my radio mic, and a portable minidisc player, also I was using a box disco light, a varin disco light, and a rope light, also a bubble machine and a snow machine, they were all plugged into 2 x 4 way extension and that was then plugged into a long extension. What happened today I have never experienced before, the music kept cutting out, just like a cd was jumping, but it could not be a cd because I was using a minidisc player, nit only that it happened with many minidiscs, it was embarrassing, could you give me any clues to why it may have been doing this, thank you mandy

I would try unplugging some of the extras. All of that could have been causing your line voltage to sag too low for the mixer supply to operate properly.

My peavy escort 1500 keeps shutting off but will come back on if I turn it off and on is it a fuse?

Can't be fuses, as it comes back on!

i) Does it go off when run continuously with volume controls at zero?
(this checks whether the audio output level is causing a problem).

ii) When the unit does operate, is the sound good on both speakers?

iii) Does the fault occur more when outdoors (wind noise tripping the power protection). If so, reduce the low freq EQ setting.

iii) Do the EQ lights flutter when the fault occurs?

This fault has been reported on the Escort 3000 too, see link

suggesting this may need a 'electronic modification' to put it right.

Hope this helps.

sounds like an internal connection problem. open access panel and check the solder connection is not broken or loose. Be sure the metal mesh jacket is not touching the lead wire as that would cause a scratchy noise and feedback, or maybe near the internal cable causing feedback

It sounds like the power supply is overheating, or an interconnect is becoming loose due to excess heat. This might be due to a faulty heat sensor, but counter-intuitively could also be due to a low voltage supply, that is, drawing more power than the circuit can handle so the voltage drops. Please check that the outlet(s) you are plugging in to are rated to supply enough power.

If after you shut it down and after a while turn it on again and it works the same way. It sounds like a heat problem. We here at Pro Line Music are a Peavey service center. If you can not get any local help you can send it to us.

The power of the Peavey Escort 3000 Portable PA Sound System went off while in use, and since then power is not showing any more

A failure probably occured in one of the power amps and has blown the fuse or worse. DO NOT replace the fuse and try to operate it as further damage may occur. Take it in for repair.

Two time the peavey escort 3000 fault dawn then a turn off and then turn on and funtion again.

Sounds like an imminent failure ready to happen. If it takes a bit of time before functioning, it may be getting overheated.
This is a small system... don't overdrive it as it is intended for SMALL venues of say 600 square feet.
