WGR614v5 will not configure - NetGear WGR614 Wireless Router

    What will it not configure?

Assuming the lights indicate it's working, can you tell if it has assigned your wired or wirelss interface on your PC an IP address? If so, it will usually start with 192.168. If your IP address starts with 169, your PC and the router aren't communicating.

Often, it's easier to configure at first via a "hardwired" LAN cable from your PC to one of the four jacks in the back of the router. The jack to connect to a cable or DSL modem is slighly offset from the other 4.

The default login for WGR614v5 routers is http://192.168.0.1 (i.e, entered as a "web address" from an internet browser. If, after typing that "web address" in, it doesn't ask you for a login name and password, then that router probably hasn't been able to assign an IP address to your PC.

I have tried every possible way to rest my netgear wgr614v5 router and the log in page will not come up. Is there any other way I can get my router to send out signals so it can be picked up bu other...

The best way to do it, though you may have tried it already, is to use a pen/pencil and push the reset button in for 5-10 seconds.

This will usually reset it to the factory default settings and reset any password protection on its wireless.

If not, it's a problem with the other computers detecting the signal, be it not in range or something else.

I have a netgear WNR1000 and my xbox live doesnt work

Using Xbox Live with NETGEAR Routers Problem: var js_3;function initPsDisplay(){js_3 = new PsDisplay({"info":{"controller_name":"PsDisplay","name":"PsDisplay_3","type":"FormField","w_id":3},"attrs":{"label":"","tabindex":"","field_name":"description","cf_id":"","table":"answers","highlight":0},"js":null});js_3.init();}YAHOO.util.Event.onDOMReady(initPsDisplay);
Workaround: var js_4;function initPsDisplay(){js_4 = new PsDisplay({"info":{"controller_name":"PsDisplay","name":"PsDisplay_4","type":"FormField","w_id":4},"attrs":{"label":"","tabindex":"","field_name":"solution","cf_id":"","table":"answers","highlight":0},"js":null});js_4.init();}YAHOO.util.Event.onDOMReady(initPsDisplay); NETGEAR has Xbox certified routers!
Note that the listed, certified firmware may no longer be available; later firmware is likely to work, but is not certified unless listed.

There is no information on what will be certified in the future. But if an existing model does not appear on the product dropdown on NETGEAR Home Page, then it will not be certified.

Win7 driver for wgr61v54

If it is not on the windows 7 compatability list ... you probably will not find a driver ...

Please dont kill the messenger ...

http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/hcl/default.mspx

If this is the case ... it may be time to replace your 'legacy' hardware.

We transferred to a new home and a new dsl account. I've reset my netgear wgr614v5 to its default settings and reconfigured it to access but now it only works for pc's that are wired into the ports....

When you reset the router the default setting for encryption is probably off. Hopefully you had encryption on in the old home - but now the wireless computers are still trying to connect using the key/encryption.

Test LED is continously ON, I cannot ping the IP

1)If the test light is ON , it means the system is initializing or in the middle of a firmware upgrade and so the ping test will not be successful.
2)If the firmware has not been upgraded then power cycle the router for a min and check which means take the power cable out for a min and then plug it back and if the light status is still the same then go for the soft reset.
3)For soft rest get the tooth pick/paper-clip or a pin and poke it into the reset button located on the rear panel of the router and is a very small tiny circular button , wait for 30-35s and it take it out , wait for 10-15s and then repeat the step2.
4)If this does not work out go for the hard reset[but all the internet connectivity will be lost and the re-configuration has to done from the beginning]
Procedure for hard-resetting:-
a)Use the paper clip or a pin to reset the device and keep holding the reset button for at least 30-35s.
b)Then , While holding the paper clip take the power cable out from the device , wait for 10-15s and then plug the power cable back to the device while holding the paper clip.
c)Wait for another 10-15s and then release the paper clip.
d)Once we have all the lights back on to the device then take the power chord out and plug it back within 30s.
5)Check the light status if it is still the same then router is faulty and has to be replaced if not then login to http://routerlogin.net/ with username as admin and password as password and re-configure the router setting's.

I have a netgear, 54 mbps wireless router WGR614 v5 and can not locate my installation disk. Can anyone tell me where I vcan get the instructions to install it?

This is Netgear Support and the page for the Netgear WGR614 version 5,

http://kb.netgear.com/app/products/model/a_id/2587

1.Software you need:

Click on the Downloads tab.
Now click on the - WGR614v5 Firmware Version 1.09, in blue.

(I would bookmark this page. After you have installed the software, you need to come back, and download the Installation Guide. While installing the software, it is best to have your internet connection closed, and all windows closed. You will then be on your desktop screen.

If you do not have your downloads set to save to your My Documents folder, {Documents for Vista}, this download will go to your desktop screen.

When you see it, double-click right on the file name. The Installation Wizard will come up. Just click on Next, Next again, and Finish. Do not be concerned when it shows you where the file is going. It will be put in the correct place. Don't change it)

2.Documentation: (Instructions for installing)
Click on the Documentation tab.
The Installation Guide is listed at the top of the list

Hi 632423.

We may not have enough information about it but let me set it to bits. Is it your PC / Laptop that doesnt have connection wirelessly or is it you netgearwgr614v5?

By default netgears wireless conneciviy is turned ON by default . If this doesnt work pls check admin settings by accesing 192.168.1.1on your address bar and make sure wireless is enabled . Best if reset to its default settings by pressing the reset button at the back of your router. By doin this  your router will be back to factory settings and by that the time you can check if wireless is on   {  LED light } .

Also check encryption , your wireless client installed on your PC or Windows Zero Configuration is started.

Pls let us know how we can help you more by providing us more info regarding this issue.

Good luck.
