Question about GE Spectra JGBP35 Gas Kitchen Range

1 Answer

GE XL44 oven and broiler do not work

I have replaced gas valve once before and took two gas valves before I
found one that worked. The replaced valve worked for about 6 months
and has now failed again along with the electric igniter.

It is very rare for gas valves to fail. Most non-ignition problems are due to old igniters which no longer draw enough amperage to allow the gas safety valve to open. You might also consider testing your voltage with a digital meter, as lower voltage will cause ignition problems also. (say 110 volts instead of 120) Replace the igniter.

GE XL44 gas oven we replaced the ignitor and the oven does not work the broiler does

Hi, this could still be a defective igniter, to verify you need a volt meter. The voltage being delivered to the oven gas valve must be at least 3.1 volts ac. Anything less and the valve operation is unreliable. If you have 3.1 to 3.3 volts to the valve when the thermostat is calling for heat and no gas, the valve needs to be replaced, If the voltage is lower, change the igniter.

The oven pilot does not light. The broiler will not work. The only thing that does is the light. GE XL44 range. The burners light and the pilots stay lit.

If you have standing pilots, make sure the pilot for the oven/broiler is lit as well.  When you turn the thermostat up to call for heat, you should see the pilot get larger. That larger pilot flame heats a hydraulic sensor and opens the main burner valve.

Lower oven burner will not light.

Hi I have a older GE that the oven won't light. It is a gas range that is electric ignited. The top burners do work but the oven will not light. Is it pricey to have this fixed?

    Oven and Broiler not working

The gas supply valve to the oven/broiler is the likely culprit. It is a separate valve from the stovetop. I've had the same problems and had to replace mine twice now. They are very expensive, (about 100 dollars) considering the cost of the whole stove. It is located
inside the broiler drawer on the very back wall.

XL44 GE oven not working. Bottom burner not getting gas.

You probably have a bad ignitor. If the ignitor does not draw at least 3.5 amps the gas valve will not open. This is a safety feature.

I have XL44 oven JGBP26. I replaced the glow ignitore on the oven but still will not glow. I carfully tested the current to the ignitore and showed 125 volts, I also tested the resistance on the control valve lead and to ignitore and showed 1100.
