Power switch for whirlpool tub

Is is possible to replace the old power switch/timer on our whirlpool tub with one that has a remote control? Our tub is 21 years old and the switch is on the wall across the room. If so, where would you buy it?

I have a Kohler vintage 1985with the same problem. After much reasearch I came up dry and built an override which allows me to turn on the tub when the water level is correct and keeps it on until switched off or the water level drops.

The easiest thing (maybe) is to install an air switch kit on the side of your tub. Here is a link to the part. Basically you install an air button on the side of the tub, install the air tubing from the nipple on the underside of the air button to the nipple on the box that plugs into an outlet under the tub. The pump plugs into that same box and the air tubing from the air button pushing onto the nipple on the box. When you push the button on the tub it will turn the pump on/off. Air Switch Kit

SOURCE: I have a 21 year

The switch is located there to comply with the electrical code. I recommend that you leave it as is.

Whirlpool Washer model # LSN1000KQ0 overfilling

did you plug the hose back into the water level switch, double check to see if it is plugged, if it is your water level switch might be defective. trouble shoot by taking the front panel off... turn on the washer by using the timer, set water level to small...on the bottom of the tub housing there should be a nipple where the clear hose connects onto.....follow the clear hose from the switch down to the bottom of the tub.........disconnect the clear hose on the bottom of the tub.....plugg the nipple with your finger.........gently blow into the hose with your mouth.......but make sure the water level in the tub is at least at half way full...and the washer is on and filling up with water ...after you blow into the hose the washer should agitate.......if it does agitate your water level switch is defective...connect hose back........get your model number and source for the switch.........

this possibly a bad contact on the panel board, thats why the system malfunction by itself. better to check on the every switch contact and clean for any moisture on the board.

Tip

How to service a temperature switch

This control panel switch regulates the temperature of the water in the tub. It also plays a role in controlling the fill cycle. If you suspect this switch is faulty, remove it and hook a test wire across the switch terminals. If water flows, the switch is faulty. If the switch is faulty, replace it with a new one of the same type. Connect the new switch the same way the old one was connected.

If there's a problem with both water temperature and tub filling cycles, both the temperature switch and the timer may be faulty. Test both components and replace them as necessary. Procedures for testing the timer can be found below.

Washing machine stops half way through the cycle

When the cycle doesn't advance, it's probably the timer or a cold-water supply problem:

  • It's the timer, if your washing machine fills with water and begins agitating, but the timer never advances--or if the washer is in a spin cycle and the timer won't advance. Then you need to replace the timer.

  • It may be a cold-water supply problem, if the washing machine fills with water, agitates, drains, and spins, but then doesn't fill with rinse water. See There's no cold water.

Kohler Whirlpool tub motor wont turn on

We had the same thing happen to our Aker brand whirlpool tub.  The fix was a replacement timer/control piece which is connected by two wires to the pump behind the tub (access wall) and plugged into the outlet; however, this cost $150 for the part and $85 for the service call (all he did was take the part out and ship me the replacement part which was easy to do).  Problem I have now is that the motor won't shut off unless I unplug it.  I am waiting for a call back from the repairman who sent me the part.

Whirlpool duet washer f-27 code error

hi Most washing machine timers are digital or mechanical. The timer controls most of the operations of the washer: water level, tub filling and emptying, length of cycles, and cycle setting sequences. For this reason, any repairs to the timer should be made by a professional service person. However, there are a couple of checks you can make when you suspect the timer is faulty -- you may be able to install a new timer yourself.

Step 1: Unplug the washer. To access the timer, remove the control knobs and the panel that covers the controls. This may be a front panel, or access may be through a panel at the back of the unit. Carefully examine the wires that connect the timer to the other parts of the washer. If the wires are loose or disconnected, try pushing them into position; they usually fit into their terminals like plugs. Use long-nosed pliers to avoid breaking the wire connections -- never pull a wire by hand.

Step 2: To test the timer, use a VOM set to the RX1 scale. Disconnect the power leads to the timer and clip one probe of the VOM to each lead. The VOM should read zero if the timer is working. Since the timer is a multiple switch, turn it through its cycle and test each pair of terminals in turn. The meter should read zero at all of these points. If one or more readings are above zero, the timer is faulty and should be replaced.

Step 3: To replace the timer, unscrew and disconnect the old one. Install a new timer made specifically for the washing machine. If there are many wires on the timer, have a helper hold the new timer next to the old one as you work. Disconnect the old wires one at a time, connecting each corresponding new wire as you work, to make sure the connections are properly made. Or, draw a diagram showing the connections before removing the old timer. After all the wires are connected, check the connections again for correctness and screw the timer assembly into place.

Good power, tub will not turn

tub, is the lid switch plugged in? If not take a jumper wire and jump out the two ends on the harness. Timer controls recirculation and spin. The motor turns both ways. The spin cycle goes through the lid switch. Catriver..post back
