Oil light came on and I parked the car. I checked the oil level and was a little low so add to the fill line. the light went off so i went to work but when I was coming home the oil light came on and went back off. It did this all the way home so I just change the oil again and replaced the oil sending unit but light is still on.
Possibly the light is coming on due to low oil pressure if you have high miles on the engine usually over 200xxx. try disconnecting the battery for about 15 minutes then reconnect that sometimes will reset warning lights. good luck

The oil pressure sending unit has gone bad. I sending unit is just above the oil filter and you can get to it from the top. When you face the Engine look down towards the oil filter, the oil pressure sending unit is just above that and it looks like a cylinder with two wires coming from it. If you don't see it, it's right between the exhaust manifold and oil filter.
If you go to Auto Zone or Parts Source, they'll have the oil pressure sending unit and the step by step instructions, When installing the new sensor. Do not use teflon tape or any sealant, the sensor is tapered and need's the good ground from the engine to give you right readings.

well, it is in the manual under engine oil. turn key to on, dont start. press gas pedel to the floor "slowly" 3 times within 5 seconds. if the change oil light flashes, its resetting. If not, repeat.. this worked for me.

in each wheel you have a traction control sensor that feeds info to the computer. You may have pinched one of the wires. I also had the same thing happen and found that was the answer.

This is my second oldsmobile i have owned. Now there is two positive connections right above where the battery is make sure they are free of rust and they are tight be careful not to over tighten nuts. Oldsmobile's are terrible for those external positive posts.

It should be on the left side of the engine(front of car) wiring runs under and around oil pan maybe wires are torn or pulled out of connector.oil sending unit is usually right in the same area of oil filter.
