Trimming function won't work

I want to trim (zoom in) on a picture following the instructions, but this function doesn't seem to work.
I can select the picture, zoom in to the desired final result, but when I then hit the shutter button to invoke the trimming funtion, nothing happens.

This is Digital Zoom I take it. best to ignore it then and do all image editing in an image editor.

Do get onto Panasonic Tech Support that may have an answer for you.
