Question about Rode NT4 Professional Microphone

Rode NT4 - power dying after less than one second brand new

I am having to return my Rode NT4 which has already been replaced once for the same reason. Brand new battery installed for use on second occasion; interview etc. recorded - only to find nothing at the end.
On switching on the power l ight - it dies almost instantly. I can't use the mic now and am very reluctant to get the same model.

Does this like a sound familiar problem to anyone? On the two occasions I've used the mic with a Marantz 670 solid state recorder. I can't stress how much care I've taken with this mic. It comes with its own 'suit of armour' case. I've treated it like a newborn baby.

Baffled and horrified.

Hi, there!

I have just bought an NT4 and looking through the manual I remember reading that the LED will light up only briefly when the mic is turned on. This indicates that battery power is OK! If the LED continues to be on it is an indication of poor batterypower. Kind of backwards, but that's what it's supposed to do. So... Maybe you're alright?

Hi Eugene,

The reset hole is located on the bottom center-right of your unit. I suppose you've already tried that, but just in case, try holding down the button for 10-15 seconds. Try it more than once if needed. Make sure external power is connected also.

Since many of these Insignia units came from Best Buy, and may have a one year warranty, try that route for service. If you need the manual for this unit, get it here:
http://www.insigniaproducts.com/cms/documents/NS-NAV01%20UM%20EN.pdf

If all else fails, call Insignia at 1-877-467-428. I hope you get it fixed. If I can help further, let me know. Thanks.

Regards, Bill

Will not stay running

You have a fuel delivery problem. Main reasons for this is a dirty or plugged up carburator. If you know what you are doing, clean the carburator. If you let gas set in it for more than a month or so without starting it up, the good ole ethonal in the fuel has gummed up inside the carb. Once you get the carb clean (jets, ports, etc) and it still doesn't run replace the fuel pump. Cheap as heck and easy to install. Both items can be done in less than an hour and cost you about 25 bucks.

I'm really at my wits end with my Rode NT1 A microphone. I bought one of these microphones from Musicians Friends and when I got it it was Dead On Arrival. no sound at all...yea I plugged it into a phantom...

If you are satisfied with Shure products I would recommend that you check out their condenser microphones. All condensers are more fragile than other microphones. Get someone to look at your Rode first in case it is not trashed and can be fixed as they are good mikes. AKG is another brand I would recommend.

LG 47LH38 power goes off momentarily then comes back on

As this is new and is already having power problems return it immediately. This is a known problem with LG and is an expensive repair if you get stuck with it. Some LG's have been recalled to chainge the power and video boards. You shoulnt have to put up with this problem when the set is new. If you can swap out an LG for a Toshiba or another top brand go for it . LG has motre of these problems on this forum than any of the top brands.

Protector flashing red when off.

If the speaker wires are shorted, it may be in protection mode. Try turning it on with no speakers attached.

If you've already done that and still have the same problem, it's broken and you should return it.
