Re: DCT5285 handset #2. Display shows charged battery. Cannot answer incoming calls. When attempting to dial, press a number and it beeps and goes back to display screen. I have reset by romoving batteries and unplugging from wall outlet for over 30 minutes. What now???

    I followed the fixya instructions to clean and replace batteries. After charging overnight, the phone was closer to normal but still would not stay connected. Nor could I dial out successfully.....I hit a number and it bounces back.

Its short circuit in the inner circuit of your device so its behaving like this.it mosly happens due to moisture collected on the circuit and due to that it gets short when connected to the electricity while charging.so the circuit needs reparing get it checked and repaired.check out both the hand set and base ment device by connecting it to external replacement to detect the faulty and getting it repaired.

Hi!

Try performing a system reset by deregistring the handset and then replacing the base settings
De-register the Handset
1) Enter the “System Reset” menu, then “Deregister HS” submenu
(see “Entering the Menu” on page 23).
2) Press volume/ or  to select the handset ID to be
de-registered from the list, then press the OK soft key.
3) Press the OK soft key. You will hear a confirmation tone.
When de-registration is complete, “Deregistration
Complete” appears.
4) After de-registering the handset, move to “Replacing
the Base Setting”

    Replacing the Base Settings---



    1) Enter the “System Reset” menu, then “Replacing

    Base” submenu .

    “Do you want to replace Base?” appears.

    2) Press the OK soft key. You will hear a conformation

    tone. The base information will be deleted.

    ACK BACK OK

    When replacing the base is complete, “Please Register” appears, register the

    handset(s) to the new base



    Register the Handset

    If you purchase an extra handset, you need to register the handset before use.

    Only one handset can be registered at a time.

    The handset ID for the supplied handset(s) was assigned at the factory, which has #1

    (#1 and #2 for DCT5285-2) in the display. When you register additional handsets to the

    base, the handset ID will be assigned.

    1) Before registering the extra handset, charge the phone’s battery for 10 minutes.

    2) Place the extra handset in the main base unit to begin registration.

    3) While the handset is registering, “Handset Registering” will appear in the LCD.

    When “Registration Complete” is displayed, the handset has been registered to

    the base. If “Registration Failed” appears, please try these steps again.

    4) Place the handset back in the charging cradle and fully charge the phone’s battery

    for 17 to 20 hours.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, post back how long the unit has been in service. It may be that the battery is charging and showing a full charge but in reality, it is no longer able to supply the needed amperage of the handset. When it "beeps and goes back to display screen", what is the charge status of the battery?

Additionally, you may want to check how the battery is connected to the handset. It may require cleaning or even scraping. Some models tend to develop "green like mold" on the battery connectors over time.

My Uniden 1560-3 has out of range on all handsets but one. I only have a dial tone on one handset. Please advise how I can correct this problem


Reset the hand sets that are out of range by doing the following:

1) Press and hold END and # for at least five seconds.
2) Move the cursor to select Base Unavailable and then press Menu/Select.
3) Select the base which you want to de-register from, and then press Menu/Select. Base Unavailable appears.
4) Move the cursor to select Yes, and then press Menu/Select. You hear a confirmation tone,

(For DCX150 handsets)
5) Place the handset in the base cradle for about thirty seconds. Handset Registering will appear in the LCD.
6) When the handset has registered to the base, the LCD will display Registration complete then show the handset
ID number.
If the display shows Registration failed, repeat the process again.

(For DCX200 or DCX300 handsets)
5)Disconnect the base AC adapter. Then press and hold find while you reconnect the adapter. Keep holding
find until the charge LED starts to blink.
6)When charged, registered handsets display a handset ID number. Handsets that have not been registered display:
7) On the handset, press and hold # until the handset beeps and displays Handset Registering.
8) When the handset has registered to the base, the LCD will display Registration complete then show the handset
ID number.
If the display shows Registration failed, repeat the process again.

How do i put the ring tone back in the handset


    Does the Phone Power Up?
  1. When you pick up your GE cordless phone and press a button, the phone should beep as a confirmation that a button has been pressed. If the telephone handset does not beep, or if it does not respond to any buttons, the battery may be in need of a recharge. Verify that the cordless phone base unit is plugged in to an electrical source, then place the handset into the charging cradle. If no lights illuminate on the phone, or if charging fails to correct the issue, clean the metal charging contacts on the cordless handset and place the phone back on the charger. If it still fails to respond or to charge, the unit may need to be serviced or replaced.
  2. Does the Battery Hold a Charge?
  3. If the cordless phone charges up and appears to be ready for use but dies after only short periods of use, the internal rechargeable batteries may need to be replaced. Replacement batteries are widely available at electronics and discount retail stores. Note your phone's exact model number, as this number will be necessary when purchasing a replacement battery.
  4. Listen for a Dial Tone
  5. If the GE cordless phone powers on, and beeps when you press keys, but no dial tone is heard, one of three problems is the likely culprit. The phone's batteries may have an insufficient charge to fully power the phone, a condition that can be corrected by simply placing the phone back in the charger. If the batteries are charged, but no dial tone is heard, it is also possible that another telephone in your home or office is "off hook" or in use; verify that all telephones, fax machines and modems are securely on the hook. If there is still no dial tone, your telephone service may have been disconnected or require service by your local telephone company.
  6. Listen for Static
  7. On some GE cordless phone models, particularly older models, static may be heard if the radio signal between the handset and base unit experiences interference. Common sources of interference include unshielded electronics, appliances, and radio transmitters, as well as high-tension power lines. If your phone offers an option to change channels, try several different channels to see if the static is eliminated. If static continues to exist, or if static can be heard on wired phones sharing the same line, your telephone line may require service.
  8. Verify Your Handset is Registered
  9. Some models of GE cordless phones may display a message on the display screen that the handset needs to be registered. If this message appears, move the handset close to the base unit and press the "Prog/Mute" button near the bottom of the handset. Next, press the "Pager" button on the base unit (your handset may instruct you to perform this step). Finally, press the "Prog/Mute" button on the handset one more time to complete the registration process. Your GE cordless phone should now work correctly.The GE Cordless Phone brand is designed to deliver the conveniences of cordless home service with quality sound and features. There are many models of the GE Cordless Phone. The most current models, including the DECT 6.0, have standard features such as call waiting, caller ID, visual ring indicator, phone number memory and digital answering systems .
  10. Before you use your GE Cordless Phone, ensure that you have all the parts. Your cordless phone package should include the phone base, a handset battery pack, a battery compartment cover, the cordless handset, a wall mount bracket, and a telephone line cord and AC power adaptor. Once you have confirmed that you have all of your parts, insert the handset battery pack into the handset and replace the battery compartment cover. Insert your telephone line cord and the AC power adapter into the phone base. The phone base identifies the telephone line as TEL LINE and the adapter as AC. Plug the phone base into the electrical socket. Place the cordless handset into the base. Allow the phone to charge for at least 16 hours before its first use. Failure to fully charge the battery before its first use will result in poor battery performance.
  11. Once you have fully charged your phone, you can proceed with setting up your phone's features. If your cordless phone includes an answering system, complete this setup process first. Turn on the answering system by pressing the on/off button. The message indicator light will display. The cordless phones are defaulted to English as the selected language. To change your language preference, press the "Skip" button for two seconds. The language will change to Spanish. Next, you will set up your voice time and day stamp. While the answering system is on, press the "Answer" button on your handset for two seconds. The phone will enter the answerer mode. Press the "8" key. This will take you to the time/day setup menu. Use the number keys to set the hour and minutes. Use the volume up and down arrows to set the AM/PM. Press "#" to save. The cordless handset will also require that you give it a name. Press the "Mute" button for two seconds until the handset reads "ENTER NAME." Enter the name of the handset by using the touchtone keypad. Press the "Mute" button to save. Enter the default area code by pressing "Mute" until the phone displays "AREA CODE." Enter your three-digit area code and press the "Mute" button to save.
  12. GE Cordless Phones are designed to be simple and convenient to use. To place or answer a call, press the TALK button. You can pre-dial a number by dialing the number before pressing the TALK button. When you are ready to make the call, press TALK and the phone will dial automatically. To answer a call that is waiting on the other line, press the FLASH button. If you experience call interference or bad reception while on a call, press the CHANNEL button until your line clears

Ge 27831 Cordless dual phone 2nd handset doesn't work


Another user (thank yoiu but I'm sorry I forgot his/her name) had the answer. It was ihe instructions but I missed it. Needed to set the 2nd handset into the main base for 20 seconds so that it could align itself.

How do i transfer calls from handset to another line or to base


  1. Press the [Int] key located in the far lower right of the handset. The LCD will display "Transfer to:."
  2. Dial the number of the handset to which you are transferring the call. The LCD will show "Calling handset B." Handset B will ring, and the LCD will show "Handset A is calling."
  3. Press the "Talk" button or any of the numeric keys to answer.
  4. View the LCD. It should display "Intercom."
  5. Press "Off/Clear" on the first handset to transfer the call.

CAN’T CONNECT
1. Displays when one handset is on a call and the other handset presses PHONE.
2. Displays when base power is off and PHONE is pressed. You’ll
also hear a sad tone.
3. Displays when an out-of-range dial fails to connect.
MAKE SURE THE HANDSETS ARE FULLY CHARGED. MAKE SURE BOTH ARE TURNED OFF, OR NOT IN THE TALK MODE. CHECK THE BATTERY TO MAKE SURE IT IS IN SECURELY IF DROPPED IT COULD HAVE JARRED LOOSE.

Handset has No link to base


I was having the same problem with the same model phone, and fixed the problem by rebooting the phone – unplugging the AC and phone cord from the base station and plugging both back it, then removing and replacing the handset to regenerate the security code.

Answering system


It first sounds as if the handset isn't charged properly. Check the battery status first. The manufacture advises to charge the system for approx. 7 hours before any use occurs. Second, make sure that the registration took, when programming the phone originally. I would de-register the handset by: 1 {MENU} i {0}{0}{2} 2 {3}{3}{5} i {OK} 3 Select the handset you want to cancel by pressing the desired handset number ({1} ? {4}). Then re-register by: 1 Handset: {MENU} i {0}{0}{1} 2 Base unit: KX-TG6021/KX-TG6022/ KX-TG6023 Press and hold {LOCATOR} until the IN USE indicator flashes. KX-TG6051/KX-TG6052/ KX-TG6053/KX-TG6054 Press and hold {LOCATOR/ INTERCOM} until the IN USE indicator flashes. LAfter the IN USE indicator starts flashing, the rest of the procedure must be completed within 1 minute. 3 Handset: Press {OK}, then wait until a beep sounds. 4 {OFF} Third, make sure that the display on the handset does not show "SP-Phone" in the display, if it does press the phone icon button. Fourth, Do you currently have voicemail from your phone service provider? If so, the answering machine will not answer. Make sure that the answering machine portion is turned on. Do this by: Press {ANSWER ON} to turn on/off the answering system. When the answering system is turned on, the ANSWER ON indicator lights. Handset No Link To Base error and no dial tone


I have the problem. I think it is because the battery i have in it was a Ni-MH and it should be a Ni-Cd. I am now looking for the right baterry Good luck Frank wolfgang24@verizon.net

2/29 Have you registered or re-registered the handset?
"No link" can mean handset is not accepting radio wave of base unit. At Mfgr website pull-down operator's manual and look for registration instructions. Some sequence of buttons will create a radio signal from base (have handset off base) then another sequence of buttons on handset will accept radio signal. If handset has "menu" button, try "menu", then "00" (zero zero) then select an accept or "OK" button. Good luck.

Registering a BT Freestyle 2200 handset
1. If there is a handset in the base remove it whilst you are registering the new handset.
2. Press and hold the PAGE button on the base for about 10 seconds until you hear a beep and the In Use light starts flashing.
3. On the handset to be registered, press and hold redial & CALLSd buttons together until display shows 65-.
4. Enter the base number. If this is a new handset then the base number is 1, the display shows 65-1 then PIN. which is normally 0000
5. Enter and registration starts. When the handset beeps and returns to standby registration is complete.
