Question about Dewalt & Variable Scroll Saw

1 Answer

Dewalt DW788 scroll saw noise

My scroll saw has started making a loud rattling/clattering noise. I have sent it back once for repair and the noise went away for awhile. The saw was out of warranty the first time I had this problem but it was still repaired free. I have now owned the saw about 5-6 yrs. I don't use it that much anymore. The noise goes away when I slow the speed down. Any help would be appreciated.

I found the solution on another website. That site had a link to a Dewalt quicktime movie showing how to fix the problem.

On my Dewalt DW788 Scroll saw, as I increase the cutting speed there is a knotting sound that increases isis very loud. How do I stop the knotting sound?

The knocking (knotting) sound could be caused by using a blade that is a bit to short or long. Often if the pinless blade has been broken just a bit then the blade is shorter then it should and it will knock. Also check that they guards are attached properly.

Using the saw working fine. Turned it off and came back out to use it and it will not work.

check to make sure that the tool didn't trip the circuit breaker --- make sure that you have voltage to the outlet.

I have a D28110 grinder and it started making a loud noise (not the regular noise) and got very hot at the front where the gears are. I removed the gears cover and tried to get the shaft out of the casing...

You have to pull the brushes back there should be screw caps on the back (cord end) remove them and take out the brushes if the gears are ok and there is grease in ther then it will be the brushes or the bushing on the back
good luck
