Question about Logitech QuickCam Connect Webcam

1 Answer

I am trying to install the software for the Quickcam Connect and it says Error 1720 and that a script is required for the installation to be complete and to contact the package vendor. Would appreciate any help I could get. Thanks.

at first yes, i had the cam plugged in but after reading the instructions, i unplugged the cam and tried to install again. I again got the error message. I rebooted the laptop and tried to install, the 3rd time, still without the cam plugged, and i still got the same message.

Unplug you cam

don't forget sometimes cams come with other programs so do a good check

1. Click Start, type Services.msc and press [ENTER]

2. Double-click Windows Installer.

3. Set the Startup type of Windows Installer to Manual.

4. Click Start to start the service. Note down the error message if any.

Error 1720. Trying to install Quark 6.1 on Windows 7

I definitively solved this problem. Follow these steps:
1) Install first Quark Xpress 6.1 on a Windows XP PC.
2) Copy the entire directory of installed files (Normally c:\program files\quark) on a pen drive.
3) Install Quark Xpress 6.1 on your Windows 7 PC until the installation stops with 1720 error.
4) Abort the installations, then copy the Quark directory stored on your pendrive in c:\programs x 86 directory overwriting the existing one.

This way Xpress 6.1 works perfectly on a Windows 7 PC. Guaranteed!

Below is info for setting up Audio & Video to chat on line after you install , either Skype or a messenger program.

Web Camera’s have to be setup on the program they are to be used with. Just installing the camera on your computer does not set it up to broadcast on messengers or Skype.
Each program has Options that have to be setup in order for the Audio and Video to function properly.
A. Skype Setup:
After downloading and installing Skype set it up as follows:
  1. Go to TOOLS, then OPTIONS, and click on Audio Settings and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
  2. Then click on the Video Settings.
  3. The camera if installed properly will come up and show a picture.
  4. Then on the bottom of the page click on Save.
The camera and audio should function properly. Your friends and Family will now see and talk to you.
B. Yahoo Setup:
After downloading and installing Yahoo Messenger set it up as follows:
  1. Go to Messenger at the top left and click on it.
  2. Next go down to Preferences and click on it.
  3. Next Calling and Devices on the right and set the Microphone and Speakers to the computer Audio Card.
  4. Next go to the Test Audio section and (in blue writing) click on “Open the call setup assistant” and follow the instructions on the left window.
When done both the Audio and Video will function properly so you can chat and see family or friends you are connected to.
Hope this helps. Bud

I have loaded the software from disc supplied with my webcam 9000 but keep getting told that upgrades are required when I start my computer. If I say yes upgrade deletes software already installed gets...

completely uninstall everything associated with the initial install of the camera, might require going into the registry and looking for any instance of the camera. Before you try reinstalling, make sure you have the most recent version of explorer as new scripts require updated IExplorer.

Error 1720

it sounds that your were infected by virus, u cannot install that unless remove any variant on it.

The risk solution; is to remove your hard drive and connect to the other computer that has a potent antivirus.
after removing virus you take back your HDD then fixed back to original.

If this will not help, Your system was destruct by a virus so better backup your files and format and install fresh windows this fixed all errors.

If you don't want to scan the system maybe you should directly reformat it and reinstall windows.

Any problem arising thereto you can notify me for further instruction.
