Re: Harbinger Decoder

Okay, I'll try and help you out...
1. Create new folder on desktop called 'recordings' or something similar i.e. easy to remember!
2. Connect unit to PC via USB cable and turn on the unit. If you slide the HOLD switch to the on position, you should get a message saying "PC LINK" on the display.
3. Locate the recording(s) that you want to decode. I don't know what model of denpa you have, so I can't be sure, but there are normally four folders (A, B, C, and D - there may also be an MP3 folder). The recordings are accessed by double-clicking my computer, then the removable disk icon that appeared when you plugged in and turned on, and then opening the folders that are present which contain the recording(s) you wish to decode.
4. Identify the recording(s) you wish to decode and copy them to your newly created desktop folder (right click the file/copy and then go into new folder and paste there).
5. Once you have copied the file(s) you want to decode, open the Converter program (programs - harbinger converter - converter 1.4).
6. In the program window click on the magnifying glass in the top box (source file) and browse to your new folder.
7. Select the file you wish to decode (I think you have to do them one at a time - just repeat the process for each one following these steps).
8. In the lower box (output file) enter the name you wish to use to identify the file so you can find it. Then click on the magnifying glass for the output file and browse to your newly created folder (this will then be where your converted files will be sent on decoding).
9. Click the 'decode' button in the lower left corner of the program window (I think it shows a picture of two different sized cogs side by side).
10. The file should then be decoded from its .hgl format to a (new) .wav format with whatever name you gave it. From here, you should be able to listen to the file on your PC using any common media player (i.e. Winamp/Media Player etc.) or recode it as an .mp3 if you want to save some hard disk space on your computer.
Repeat the process from step 6 for each file you want to decode.
Hope that helps and good luck.

Converting a .voc file to a wav or mp3

You have the Creative labs own compression file there. There are several Programs that can convert this for you and many of them are free. If this is something you will be doing a lot of you might pay for a better designed program. If it is a one time thing go to this link and download a free program to do the converting for you.

Although a lot of people say they can't find a program on there to fix their solution so, instead go to this site.
Down load the program and go from there.
If you are on a mac you can run windows from the program Parallels and then work it in the windows environment.

Re: Play button on DSS AS-2300 Transcription player

several solutions you can try.. first of all, convert it to wave and try to play it (file. convert to wave)

if it is for all dss files, then the program may have to dll files that updated and will not work now

depending on operating system... windows xp media edition maybe the cause would be my first guess and there would be no fix for it...
2nd guess... service pack 3.... try to uninstall the program and reinstall it... and if you have service pack 3... go thru control panel and uninstall service pack 3 if you have it

Can't convert DSS 30 WMA file to MP3

You will need to search for a third party program that will allow you to convert WMA files to MP3 as the software that came with the recorder does not allow for this option. Go to google and search for WMA to MP3 conversion programs. There are several free shareware programs available.

Converting wma files to wav files on olympus DDS player version 7

When using the DSS Player v7 software the program is unable to convert WMA to WAV. The option you see there only works when it is a .dss file that needs to be converted to .wav. In order to convert WMA to WAV you will need to locate a third party software program that does this type of conversion.

Go to google and search on WMA to WAV conversion editors.

Computer face removal

Hi, In order to be able to remove the front panel cover, you must remove both side cover of the computer (remove rear screw and slide back). To remove the front panel: 1. Depress and hold the top square button (left side, top front) of the panel cover; 2. Depress the lower left tab; 3. Press on the right tab; 4. Front panel may then be removed. This is better explained in the service manual. It is available on line from the Compaq site/Product Information/Manual file name c00311113.pdf All other information and manuals on the same page with no charge. Hope this be of some help/idea. post back how things turned up or should you need further information. Good luck and kind regards.
