Question about Bissell 1697-7 Powersteamer Pro Deluxe Vacuum

1 Answer

It keeps tripping the breakers or the GFI outlet.

It works for about 5 minutes, trips the breaker, then only works for 30 secs before it trips again. Even when I try plugging into a 20 amp breaker outlet, instead of the normal 15 most of my house has, still trips the GFI.

Inoperable electrical wall socket

The obvious would be a blown fuse or tripped circuit breaker. Go to your main fuse box and check for that. If you have a GFI outlet or circuit breaker, reset that. Some outlets protected by Ground Fault Interrupters are gang wired, so there may be another outlet in the room that has the GFI outlet that controls the outlet you are using. You may have to check for them. The GFI outlet usually has two small push buttons on it, one is TEST and the other is RESET.
If it is not easily fixed by those items, you will most likely need to pull the outlet from the wall box and see if you can trace it from there. First check these as they are the easiest fixes.
If you find my solution to be of help, I would appreciate a Thumbs Up from you. If my solution does not solve your problem, please contact me and we can go from there. Paul

It may have gotten hot if you went too long before cleaning the filter. It sounds like you may have burnt it up. I hope not! You might also check to see if you tripped a breaker on the electrical panel. Try plugging it in an outlet that is not on the same circuit. If it works in another outlet, then you have just tripped a breaker.

Good Luck!

Trips

The switch could be bad. Make sure there are no clogs anywhere that could be causing it to overheat. Try to bypass the switch and run it just long enough to see if you can go longer than the normal 5 min. you're getting. If you can then replace the trip switch. Do not continue to use the machine without the trip switch operating properly or it could catch on fire.

Hello,
It sounds like your vacuum is fine if it works when plugged in the kitchen outlet. It is tripping the breaker switch in the other room because the circuit is overloaded (too many things plugged in this circuit). Try unplugging some things in that room and try your vacuum again.
If it only trips when using one particular outlet, then the outlet should be replaced. I would recommend having an electrician check your wiring out.

Hope this helps

Hoover Wind Tunnel bagless- issue with turning on

Have you tried to plug the vaccuum in another outlet that is on another breaker? It could be the vaccuum tripped the breaker. Turn the breaker back on. The manual mentions the thermal protector could have been activated. If this happened it resets and your vac should run after 30 minutes. I have a Widepath Tempo and it has tripped the surge protector. If this is the problem try turning some things off that are also on that breaker/outlet, or unplug them when you use the vac.

Even know the breaker doesn't look tripped it might be. You have to flip it all the way off and then back on again. That is most likely what has happened. If that doesn't work check to make sure a GFI hasn't tripped. They are usually located on a receptacle in the kitchen and/or bathroom.
If that doesn't take care of it's time to call an electrician.

Hope I could help-Good Luck
