identical problem - please notify with solution

I keep getting warnings that the cradle cannot move. It's been doing it for 6 or more months and the printer was about a year old when it started happening. I have to move the cradle and sometimes it works but most of the time it takes a few times to work. It's frustrating. We figure it's best to just buy a new printer rather than getting this one fixed but we don't have any extra money to do either...

I have the same problem and it seems if I move the cartridge by hand it might work, but then it stops working after a while.

I think I corrected this for myself.
First of all check http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01370198&lc=en&dlc=sv&cc=se&product=3742502&lang=sv

Here are the steps that helped me:

  1. open front cover
  2. disconnect power
  3. move the cartridge to the left
Using a flashlight I saw a black shiny bump (about 1/2 inch height) below where the black cartridge normally rests. It almost looked like it was part of the printer, but when I got a screwdriver it came of easily as it was a hunk of leaked black ink. I had used a refilled cartridge and maybe this had something to do with it. After removing the mass of ink, everything is working great!

    thanks

Do I have to install a color cartirdge (CL-41)?

Some will allow printing with just black & others will not. You may need to put a color cartridge in to print. Check your owners manual or canon website to make sure but if you do need a color cartridge you can buy a generic brand that works with your printer to save some $$. Hope this helps.

Try this --
Cartridge Error 50C
Your print cartridge has shorted.

  1. Power off your All-in-One and unplug it.
  2. Plug in your All-in-One again and turn it on.
  3. Uninstall and then reinstall your cartridges.
  4. If this does not resolve the issue, try the troubleshooting steps for the other cartridge errors below.
Cartridge Error
Complete the following instructions:
  1. Power off your All-in-One.
  2. Use both hands to lift up the scanner unit until the scanner support holds it open.

  5. Lower the scanner unit until it is completely closed.
  6. If the error message reappears, replace the black print cartridge with a new print cartridge.
If it does not repeat steps 1-3 and then go to step 7.
  7. Reinstall the color cartridge and remove the black print cartridge.
  8. Lower the scanner unit until it is completely closed.
  9. If the error message occurs again, replace the color cartridge.
  10. If an error message reappears, repeat steps 1-3 and reinstall both print cartridges.
  11. Lower the scanner unit until it is completely closed.
  12. If you receive the error message again, replace both cartridges

Printer will not work after installing a new cartridge (name brand)

I put the original almost empty cartridge in again and printed one page. Then I took it out and put in the new one, after wiping the contacts with a piece of plain paper. it worked!

To fix this problem, you need to go back to the store where you bought the new cartridge, they need to replace it. You have to make sure that you have the same label of the cartridge and have them test it if possible so you don't have to go back if needed.

Hope this helps!
