This email was sent to me from me and to all my contacts in yahoo and it deleted my contacts...help! how do i get my contacts back? this is just a terrible virus.

Open your yahoo mail, click on contacts, then in the right pane you will see a drop down that says all contacts.
drop that down to show deleted contacts.
all your deleted contacts will show up, check them all off.
then in the right pane again, there will be a link to restore them.
HOWEVER, your deleted contacts may have been in the "trash" too long and yahoo permanetly deleted them. If they are still there use the above steps to get them back.
Then do yourself a favor and export your contacts to an excel spreadsheet and do not keep them stored with yahoo mail.
I had the same exact thing happen to me, there is nothing worse then 500 people complaining that you just sent them a virus.
Change your yahoo email password as well. Use a combination of letters and numbers.
Its on the vacation settings on your pop mail need to reset your password and then turn of your autoresponder!!

Aparently I had an email sent to all my yahoo contacts with subject re:hi and mentioning some company or other which I was recommending- noticed that my yahoo contacts were also deleted. Any idea what is causing this and what to do to ensure threat is totally removed from my laptop. The email was sent from my yahoo email and I have AVG anti virus.
I received the same email message. I found it in my vacation response in my Yahoo! email account. That is not good. Now, I cannot access a password change for my account either. Whoever hacked me, did a great job. I am still working on it. Any tips to change my password?? And get my contacts back??? Hotmail users also had this same problem. Some folks were able to call a Hotmail Help Desk and were able to recover their contacts and remedy the auto reply problem. I am looking for a phone number to call Yahoo! Does anyone have that info? Please help.

Had exactly the same problem with the stupid virus send re:hi email to all my contacts and then deleting the contact list.
The email sent contains all email addresses, so i copied it and have to re-enter all the addresses again.
I think I know how it originated.
I got an email in my inbox earlier titled 'Delivery Status Notification (Failure)' from "[email protected]"
I opened it and voila, hello virus.
Well I'm pretty sure that's where it came from for me.

I had the same thing happen on Yahoo. I really think my password was stolen using phishing or through a less secure website. I have spent the last day creating unique passwords for any site I use, especially any email accounts. The SPAM transmissions stopped right away. I am not too worried about my contacts. All of the email addresses are in the returned mails.
Got an email from an address I trust, subject was "Secure Shopping!." Opened it. It was an away message from a colleague. My contact/address book was erased and I found out this morning that all of my contacts got the same message, now from my address. Ran several virus programs. Nothing. What is going on.
I gave my old phone to my husband, he has a different service provider, but my new iphone now has all my husbands contacts and mine are gone, I think it is because I cannot delete my email address from my old phone. Please help
