I had the same problem with my PC with a new optical drive and all I had to do with replace the cabling and that fixed my problem. No issues since then. I would suggest to try this if none others have worked.

CD and DVD drives use lasers to read the disc. If the door pops open, Device Manager says everything is fine, and the drive spins, but it can't see a disc sometimes. Either the disc is dirty, the lens is dirty, or the laser is failing. The lasers do burn out a lot. They last about as long as light bulbs.

Nobody does replace the lasers. As if you could, it would cost far more than the drive itself. If you don't want to replace the whole drive and you get one of those slimline DVD/CD drive which are really small that plugs into an USB port.

You can try to delete Upper and Lower Filters in the Registry by going to the registry editor (Sart>Run>Type regedit)

After deleting those and you restart your computer, it should work and detect those by now since system recognizes device, if it doesn't either, there is a problem with your OS, you may try repair or reinstall of OS.

Thanks.

You will find that in the registry editor...

In Windows Vista OS (Operating System) you just have to type regedit on the Search Box that appears after you click on Start (The Windows Logo in Vista -- Lower Left Side of the Screen)

After you have the registry editor window... that's where you'll search for the lower and upper filters. Pleasebe careful in deleting or altering files in the registry as this will cause your computer to go haywire if some important system files gets deleted.

    Thanks.

Tsstcorp cddvdw ts l633p error code 19

Code 19 means there is a driver conflict such as two devices trying to use the same resources.

Try this - Control Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click the device - Driver's Tab - click
Update Drivers (this will likely do nothing) - then RIGHT CLICK the drive - UNINSTALL - REBOOT
this will refresh the default driver stack.

Normally the above will fix that issue if not work your way down through these even if you have done
them before.

Drives Disappear After You Install ITunes or Norton Ghost** If after installing ITunes or Norton Ghost, you get Device Manager error code, try locating the Audio File System (AFS) driver from Oak Technologies at C:\Windows\System32\Drivers\afs.sys or doing a search for it. Rename it afs.sys.txt and reboot. This driver is incompatible with the driver found in iTunes and Norton Ghost. The driver from these two companies is the same and made by a third company called Gear Software. After renaming the afs.sys driver file you will lose access to the CD burning feature of of the following: HP Memories Disc Creator, Liquid Audio Portal Player, Oak Technology SimpliCD, or Broderbund's Print Shop version 20. If you still wish to use the burning feature in any of that software, upgrade it to a Vista versions. For more information, see the article here - http://www.gearsoftware.com/wiki/index.php?title=CD/DVD_drives_disappear_after_installing_iTunes.

Description of Code 10-related errors that Device Manager generates in Windows-based computers
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/943104/

Please do all the below even if you have done some before as it is often the total process which solves the issue.

Try this - Control Panel - Device Manager - CD/DVD - double click the device - Driver's Tab - click
Update Drivers (this will likely do nothing) - then RIGHT CLICK the drive - UNINSTALL - REBOOT
this will refresh the default driver stack.

Then work your way through these - remember the drive could be bad, could have a loose cable or
slight corrosion on the contacts (usually for a laptop) and other issues.

Another possibility is that the cables are loose. Remove ALL power, then check cables in both
ends. Remove and replace, do not just snug. For laptops you can often clean the power and
data contacts with a pencil eraser.

Some DVD drives do not use the Windows default drivers so check with the System maker and
device maker to see if there is firmware or drivers for you drive if needed.

CD / DVD player not listed as device on Windows Explorer

Try physically removing the player and fire up the laptop. Power down the laptop, replace the player and power back up. If that doesn't help, see if BIOS recognizes it.
If that doesn't work, get back to me.
