Same as everyone. First, "Scanner Bulb Warming Up", then scanner error, power off and power on". Then, after waiting, same thing. I don't use the scanner much at all, the frustrating thing is that it locks up the entire printer.....no printing, no faxing, no receiving faxes. AAAGGGH.

I have the same problem, display says "Scanner Error Power Off" and the printer won't do anything until it goes away, printer was just over a year old when error occurred and has been sitting in a box for a couple years now but I'd like to get it back up and running if possible. Do you have a diagram or something that shows where/how to get to the scanner head?

Our Laserjet 3380 is showing the same Scanner error message that others have described. We tried cleaning the mirror as suggested with q-tips but the problem did not go away. This seems like a common problem with this 3380 so we hope someone out there will have the solution to the problem other than the repair man and down time.

You need to clean the small mirror film. Repeatedly turning on and off the printer will move the scanner head to the left. When it makes it to it's final position remove the screw and using a qtip gently wipe the thin mirror film next to the light bulb. This will clean the dust that is causing the error. some say use alcohol on the qtip i never used it. Once it's clean the scanner will return to it's original position and resume function. return side glass and screw, and you should not have that error until it's once again dirty.

Scanner Directions

Scanner utility is pretty much come with the software. You can input the paper like you input for fax, either on the top scanner or the scanner itself and then just press scan on your printer. It will automatically scan to your computer. Please make sure your computer is connected to the printer.

Thanks

Sounds like the scanner has died. Sometimes restarting can help out. If you can print try printing out the configuration page and let us know what the error codes are.

You may want to remove the glass and clean the underside of the glass and the lamp, also whatever mirrors and lenses there may be. It sounds like it is not setting up properly and the glass and mirrors getting hazy can cause that.
