Question about Dell Inspiron 1525 Laptop Jet Black

Unable to connect to internet

Windows was unable to check for updates on my computer and Microsoft advised me to reload it. Everything was wiped from the desktop.

Now when I try to connect to the internet I get a message Error 814. Install and enable the ethernet adaptor.

The computer was purchased last March.

    What is the make and model of your PC? It sounds like you need to reinstall your ethernet adapater driver from the manufacturer.

Windows does not install the drivers for Ethernet cards, sound cards and wireless and stuff by default, it only installs basic drivers. You need to go to DELL's online site ( http://www.dell.com ) and search for your laptop drivers using your Service Tag no. (which is printed somewhere on the laptop case). Download the driver software and install it on your laptop.

Alternatively if you have the DELL installation resource CD, it will have the drivers for all your hardware on it and you can install it from there.

Hi.

What do you mean by "reloading Windows"? Did you repair it? Maybe did reinstallation? If so, you may need to install drivers for your Ethernet adapter. You will need to specify Ethernet adapter manufacturer and model (if it is onboard adapter, then motherboard manufacturer and model), so I can provide you with the download link, in case you don't have the drivers.

That means your operating system in unstable. First of all you need to identify what operating system you are using for example Windows 7 or 8 or XP. Then Get a CD for that operating system. Boot from the Operating system CD and select Repair so that the machine can be repaired. During the repair process your machine will restart a couple of times so do not freak out it will be okay. But if it does not work after repair, then you will have to consider what we call wipe and reload. In wipe and reload, we only save all your data and reformat and reconfigure your computer to its factory settings

Unable to connect to my wireless internet connection on laptop


you could try updating your wireless network driver. click start and right click computer, click manage and then device manager in the computer management window. look for network adapters in the main window and click to open drop menu. find the wifi adapter, right click and click update driver software. you will need to do this via a wired connection

Netbook will no longer connect to Explorer; no other browswer loaded. Can this product be wiped and reloaded?


I assume you are referring to Internet Explorer rather than Windows Explorer.

You should try re-installing it from the Microsoft site here:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/internet-explorer/default.aspx

Download the software and it should install/upgrade your installation without you having to manually delete the old version.

I'm connected to a wireless network but unable to get internet explorer to connect to the internet. what do i do?


The WiFi software that is embeded into the OS does not work very well. Fortunately digitalgadget.com has a download that somewhat fixes this problem fairly well. The new download is not totally goof proof, but you can work with it.

Go to: http://www.digitalgadgets.com/netbooks/update.html and download the indicated update. You can copy it to a thumb drive and connect the thumb drive to your Sylvania , find it under My Computer and then copy it to your
desktop and run it from there.

Wireless unable to connect


Windows 7 is not best suited yet for wireless connectivity, but broadcom wireless cards/dongles are about the only ones that work favourably with this Microsoft offering. Anything to do with non working hardware IS A DRIVER ISSUE AND IF IT IS NOT IN THE UPDATE SITE YOU WILL HAVE TO DOWNLOAD DRIVERS FROM THE VENDOR OF YOUR PARTICULAR HARDWARE. MOST HARDWARE THAT WORKS IN VISTA WILL WORK IN WINDOWS 7.

Will not connect to internet,wireless or cable,


For $200, they probably will be:
(1) backing-up all your data files;
(2) using the CD-ROMs that came with your computer, reinstalling Windows
(3) applying all the Windows Update and Microsoft Update security-updates
(4) reloading free software (Adobe Flash, Adobe Reader)
(5) installing some anti-virus software
(6) restoring your data from a backup

So, pay the $200, or do it yourself.

You could look at the firewall and popup blocker settings. If you have internet at all on wireless everything should work the same make sure you are connecting correctly.
