Question about Sylvania 6427TE 27" TV

2 Answers

Sylvania tv has stopped recognizing commands from remote.

I replaced the batteries in the old remote, then purchased a new remote (made for this tv). It works for about two clicks, then stops working. This morning, the tv refuses to recognize the remote at all.

It started as on again, off again. Now, it seems to be more off than on.

What the heck is going on? The tv is not that old of a model.

Thanks,

dee

Use some windex on the pickup on the front of the tv. It's a little dark spot, either round or square that picks up the signal from the remote.

This sounds like the remote sensor in your tv is going bad and needs replaced! ( a common problem)

Sylvania TV Remote Control System Is In Operative

If your new Sylvania remote is functionally identical to the old one and does not work, make sure nothing is blocking the path between the remote and your TV and try again. If no results, the IR detector in the TV may have failed

TV isn't responding to the remote

Hello, sorry to hear that you having issues with your remote or TV.
First, comes the most common questions but its worth a shot, Did you replace the batteries?
Second, You could try and clean the infrared eye on the tv with a moist cloth to make sure the window on it is not dirty or blocked from the line of sight of the remote.
Also check you batteries once more, also take the batteries out of the remote and push on the buttons as one ore more could be stuck causing the remote to malfunction.
Worse cases are bad remote or bad control board in the TV witch cause it not to respond to the remote. First check the remote very well. You could also replace the remote at www.remotes.com or purchase a universal remote as well.
Only if the new remotes do not work you would call it a bad control board in the tv witch could cost around $90 to replace if there are part available.
Most cases would be the remotes batteries or connectors itself or batteries incorrectly installed.

The television has stopped responding to its remote and a cable remote.

Hello SKrokau:

Have the IR sensor (Infared Sensor) replaced in this model. It is a common failue for Sylvania televisions. The IR sensor is the device used to receive commands from the remote and relay the commands to the microprocessor for processing. The sensor is very inexpensive and the total to repair should not cost you more then (FYI) $80.00 for parts and labor.

We have 2 Sylvania TV's. The remotes work on one TV but the other TV no longer recognizes the remotes. It gradually seemed to lose reception of the signal from the remote. Any ideas?

The tv has a infared remote eye located at the front panel. It is possible that the remote eye sensor has gone bad. You could try cleaning the remote eye lens. There might be debris that got inside the remote eye housing and is blocking the sensor. You could also try installing fresh batteries in the remote.

REMOTE DOES NOT WORK ON SYLVANIA TV

It sounds more like a problem with the TV, than the remotes. It's possible that the IR reciever or microprocessor for it have pooped out. It's something that would have to be serviced by a shop, but due to the age and size it would likely be cheaper to replace the whole TV.
