Hold down the Fn key while pressing those keys. Or turn on the Num Lock and you don't have to hold down the Fn key.

Can i burn cd in Compaq nc6000?

Hello,

Only if your nc6000 came with an optical drive in the Multibay. If it did not, you have options.

1. Purchase an external USB Optical Drive. There are loads of them out there. You'll get your best pricing from online vendors. Choose a reputable one. Tigerdirect.com and Newegg.com are well-known, but there are many others. If shopping online, I highly suggest that you read the product reviews before making a decision.

2. Depending on your exact model of notebook, you may be able to purchase direct from HP. If you will provide me with your Service Tag, Model Number and Serial Number, I'll be glad to look for you. This information is on the label on the bottom of your notebook.

Hope this helps.

Have a blessed day.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Tip

Why is my Laptop keyboard typing the wrong characters is it a bug ?

Sometimes its just down to the Regional settings not set up correctly so the " and the @ are reversed with US and UK keyboards.
However,
Laptops have the in built functionality of using a number pad when the NUMLOCK key has been pressed, there may not be a light to show this !!!!
The following keys will be designated as follows until the NUM LOCK is pressed again.

789------------ >789
UIO------------ >456
JKL ------------ >123
M--------------- >0

Don't get caught out my Father in Law was willing to pay PC World £25 to sort this out until he gave me a call!!!!

Keyboard

The Numeral Lock mode is turned on by pressing the key named "NUM LOCK" which is usually located on the top of the number keypad (on far right side of keyboard).

However, laptop keyboards are different. Most laptops do not have a separate numeral keypad set. Those laptops usually use a blue (or other color-coded) "Fn" key, on the bottom left. You must press that Fn key at the same time as the "Num Lock" key of same colr. Then a light comes on to indicate the mode change, and some alpha-numeric keys on the keyboard now become your numeral keypad. On mine, it is 789, UIO (456), JKL (123) and M (which is zero).

If this is too confusing, you can plug in a cheap full size desktop keyboard, using the USB or PS2 port on your laptop. That is what I prefer, because the funky integrated dual-key deal interferes with all the touch-typing I learned 37 years ago.
