Hi……there could be a number of reasons why you can’t connect. I’m assuming you have rebooted both laptop and router to see if this helps, so let’s move on to some basic troubleshooting steps to start with:

  1. Can you pick up the internet through a wired (Ethernet) connection between the laptop and the router? If so, this narrows the problem down to your wireless connection.
  2. Can you login to your router again, and check to see if MAC filtering has been enabled. To find this, go to Advanced Setup > MAC filtering. If the status is ‘enabled’, disable it, Save changes, and try to connect wirelessly again
  3. If MAC filtering is off, and you still can’t connect, go to ‘View Wireless Networks’ on your laptop: disconnect from your network, wait 30 seconds, and reconnect. When prompted, re-enter your network key very carefully. Can you connect now?

If you still can’t connect, please come back to Fixya, and let me/us know the operating system on your laptop. Good luck…

Is the Zoom ADSL X6 modem router supposed to provide connectivity for a 3G Kindle? If so, how do I set things up?

Zoom X6 routers don't work with either Kindles or Nooks- it seems the connect on demand to save power confuses the Zoom router - typically requiring the unpractical fix of rebooting the router every two minutes.

No Internet via zoom X6 wireless router to desk top, lap top ok.

Access your zoom router by using the laptop which still has access to the router.

Your going to have to open your Wireless Network Connection Status window located under your network settings.

If you see this window your going to left click the (details) button

Now you should see a IP DNS server address
for example: 192.168.1.xxx

Type that address onto the address bar of your web browser.

it should take you to your router setup page.

There you will need to check if the lan port is enabled

I have a Zoom X6 ADSL modem that keeps dropping my internet signal. How can I correct this?

is it wireless connection or ethernet? Zoom routers have a firewall and when you have something connected that the firewall doesnt like (Xbox 360 or Gaming) it will drop the connection. goto zoom.com/x6 and it will give you instruction on how to by-pass the firewall using an different IP address.

USB Modem V ADSL Router/Modem

Unplug the plug (from phoneline) on back of USB modem, plug into Zoom router. Plug one end of an ethernet cable into router and one end into your PC. Type http://10.0.0.2 into a web browser (eg. Firefox or Internet explorer) username/password is admin/zoomadsl go to basic setup and input your ISP username and password (the one given to you by your internet provider) under PPP. Click configure my connection. Save changes and then write to flash (both buttons on bottom of page)

Zoom X6 installation

you need a ethernet network card, if you want it connected to the x6 directly, or you can get a wireless card for the desktop.
the instruction for setup the x6 is straight forward. but you need to follow it to the letter, otherwise it won't work.

if you need more information please email me at [email protected]

Zoom x6 router

Well for most zoom X6 routers I saw it's

http://10.0.0.2

That should take you to the main page. The manual is located here for X6 models.

http://www.zoom.com/techsupport/adsl/adsl_x6.shtml

In the manual it's on page 13. I would download a copy of the manual and read it as well.
