I went from bottom red and white out of hd cable box to vcr/dvd in. From vcr/dvd out to the componet 1 of the tv. I the went from dvd red and white out to the composite on the tv. I can record with sound on the DVD side. I may need to switch the red and whites to get the vcr to record with sound.

I didn't get the owners manual and can't understand how to record from the tv. I have a Sony HDTV, a Time/Warner(Comacast) HD DVR cable box, and the Toshiba 610. I'm thinking I connect the output of my cable box to the input of the Toshiba (VCR/DVD input), then the Toshiba output (VCR/DVD output) to the TV input. My problem is the cable box only has the component video outputs (Y,R, B, 2 audio) and the Toshiba only has the video cable inputs (video, R/W audios). Where am I going wrong?

1st, see if you can get another cable box that offers component as well as RCA outputs on the back. Does your cable box have S Video out and does your toshiba have S Video in? If so, hook up the S Video from cable box to Toshiba. Then hook up R&W audio from Cable Box out to Toshiba In. Set the channel on the cable box to what you want to record. Set Toshiba to record channel 3 or 4, whichever your Toshiba is set on. The cable box controls the channel you are recording. You cannot set the recorder to the channel you want to record. It must be either 3 or 4. Try it. If everything else fails, you have to go cable from wall to cable in on cable box, cable out on cable box to cable in on Toshiba then either cable or RCA out on Toshiba to TV.

both should be hooked directly to tv

VCR side of combo should be hooked up with composite video(yellow, red, white wires) to video 1 input

DVD side of combo should be hooked up component video (red, blue, green wires and red white for sound)

cable box should be hooked up HDMI or component to TV if HD or composite video if SD

hope this helps

How do I connect to Sharp HDTV and Comcast cable

Your dvd recorder only has rca, red white yellow inputs it wont allow you to record in HD, although you can play your comcast box any hd, regular digital through and record. Hook up the comcast box if HD through preferably HDMI if not get one from comcast. The HD box is the only box that allow HDMI, component and regular RCA and some RF out. This way you can play HD to your set but also record through RCA or RF again will not allow for HD record unless its TiVo. Hope this helps

Use output of combo player to input of TV. Use what ever available input you have left on you TV. HDMI or Component input is best, but others will work.

How do I connect the VCR & DVD when I have a Comcast box

Good Day,

Not knowing what type of TV you own, let's try this:

1. Hook your Audio from your TV to your amp; TV's audio output to an amp input.(eg; video one)
2. Hook vcr/dvd/c box to inputs to your TV.(eg; vcr to video 1 on tv, dvd to tv's video 2)

Let me ask you how many inputs does your tv have?
Is tv, box&dvd HD?? Iwill help but give me more information. Thanks

Hook up

What channel do you have your TV on...3 or 4? Match that setting on your V5500, hit the TV/VCR button and you should have onscreen whatever channel the cable box is on.
