The links of this watch require special tools and expertise.it's not like a seiko. you should take it to a cartier jeweler I don't think they would even charge you for that.
SOURCE: Cartier signature
My Cartier Santos has the Cartier Logo on the "X". It is spelled as CART and then IER. I also have an antique Cartier which doesn't have this secret signature. However, all Cartier are stamped SWISS Made at the bottom on the face. In the back of the watch the word "Cartier" must be engraved as well as a swan and another hallmark. All genuine Cartier movements (inside the watch) must be stamped Cartier if they are genuine. If in doubt, have the back removed and look for the Cartier signature on the watch movement. Hope this helps.

It's probably just the battery. If you bought it online there is no way to know how long the watch has been sitting on a shelf. You will want to spend the money to have a watchmaker replace the battery in your watch. The mart stores or mall kiosks can further damage your watch as those places do not have trained people working there. They don't know what they are doing.
Have a watchmaker do this and you will be better off. in the long run.
Hope this helps.

mcdevito75 here, Generally your Cartier watch is wound in a clockwise direction simply, due to how it:s made, in this direction the mainspring is tightened or wound and turning the crown in a counter-clockwise position only free wheels the winding mechanism. I would advise you wind your watch in a multi direction, however not to the very, very end of It"s winding capacity, once you feel the crown getting tension only 4--5 more multi-direction turns should be enough to maintain a good wind to your Cartier watch.
