Question about Apple iMac 24" Desktop

IMac 24 screen - no consistancy on colour

Have had 3 LCD screens fitted Apple tell me that the LCD screen can not give a consistent colour across - due to 3x fluorescent tubes as backlights. They seel it as a product for profressionals though. Should I just accept this? I can't calibrate colours - everything is uneven across or top/bottom on screen - APPLE just offe to keep putting new LCD panels in till we get one we like! Want to know if I am being 'bamboozled'.

Thanks Robert - the iMac is all in one - so they would need to agree to replace everything - I just wanted a bit of reassurance that I shouldn't accept Apple's explanation - and continue to say the product is not 'fit for the purpose' it was purchsed for / advertised as - I have 2.5yrs of Apple Care left - so repairs aren't the problem - but I think I just want to return it - and start over again.

Not sure about that .... but you are the customer... keep talking to them until they get it right... or ask why they are not offering a replacement monitor as that one sounds like a lemon.

that would be my choice as well.... i have to ask if you will bump up the rating as helpful... as it seems it was too you. i might add that if you live near any stores that sell that type of computer... to go to the store and see what they work like and test if they have the same issue as yours... if they don't... apple may very well be giving you the run around.

What can I do to stop by iMac G5 LCD screen from being pixelated and getting dark blue and pink horizontal lines across it?

This very likely a failure in the LCD screen. If you are seeing thin or wide bands, vertical or horizontal across the screen, then you will need to have the unit serviced to repair or replace the screen. If the unit has been dropped or struck (hard) it is possible the connector cable for the screen has come loose, but this is not usually the issue. If the unit is still under warranty, get it serviced. If it is not under warranty, there are several good web sites that provide Do-It-Your-Self instructional videos as well as parts, both new and refurbished and used. If you google your specific model and "screen replacement", you will see a number of results appear that would be of use.

Smudge, streaks, rays imac 24 monitor clean inside LCD

Yep, you can clean the LCD and the inside of the glass, but you will need two suction cups for glass. The ones for picking up window glass work. Lay the computer on its back. Place the suction cups at the upper corners and pull straight away from the table. The glass is held on by magnets and may have tabs at the bottom, so once the magnets are loose you may have to lift the glass away from the bottom edge. Be careful, it isn't safety glass and can break if dropped. The hardest part is keeping dust from getting between the screen and the glass during reassembly. Try working in a dust-free environment. I use two micro-fiber cloths, one with screen cleaner and one dry. You can't believe how much static builds up on the inside of the glass. It just sucks in dust. Don't wear fleece or you'll end up with fuzz as well. Stand your iMac up to reinstall. Clean the outside of the glass so you can see any dust on the inside. Place the bottom in place first. As you prepare to move the top into place, have light behind and above you and view the glass with the black screen behind. You can see most of the dust that way. Good luck.

Apple iMac 24" Screen issue

you are not alone. its not that hard to clean. really you need the cloth that came with the screen...most people throw it out. and all you do is dab it with a bit of water and gently massage the screen. and it looks as good as new. if you dont still have the cloth use a very silky delicate piece of cloth. if it is underneath the screen (very unlikely) take it back to the shop you baught it for and if it is an apple store then they will most probably clean it for free.
also do the stains look like the are on the inside or outside? and, do they move at all?
if you took a picture of your screen and posted it on here. i will be able to give you a better idea on how to.. fix ya
