then there must be an error functioning of the hardware in your mobile.. don't give over load to your phone . this will affect your performance of your mobile.. contact your service provider to find your problem they will find the fault in your mobile.. and they will change the component in your phone.
A month ago, it happened to my phone too. I got it reprogrammed at a local repair shop for only $10. The repair man says the problem is brought about by over charging of batteries or by downloading of certain apps which eat up a huge amount of the phone's 8GB internal memory. So he advised me to be careful so it won't happen again. I hope this helps. =)
try to fix it first by updating its software but if the problem still persist then it would be the hardware it self. but i think also that the memory of this phone correlates on the malfunctioning of the touchscreen.
Despite being presented as a phone with 8GB internal memory, W960i has actually two (2) storage drives: first, the W960-8GB drive which is used for storing images, videos, backups and applications and second, the Phone Memory wherein your contacts and messages are saved. The phone memory only contains 159MB and if it gets full, you won't have any more room for contacts or messages, including outgoing messages (because they are temporarily stored in your outbox, therefore requiring additional space from your phone memory). Once it becomes full, you cannot be able to use the w960-8gb drive for the additional memory requirement but only your SIM memory. be careful to do this as my phone has already been reprogrammed by overlooking my contacts because all the while I thought the 8GB memory can accommodate my messages & phone numbers. but it cannot. so take good management of your Phone memory. You can view and release the storage of your phone's 2 memory drives by going to Menu>Tools>Control Panel>Device>Storage Wizard.
I fitted a new keypad on my 960i some time ago (funnily enough for the same reason - no.7 not working!) and I'm pretty sure you will find that when your new membrane arrives, it is a complete unit with buttons and contacts all enclosed together, connected to the phones' circuit by a ribbon with a tiny plug on the end.. hope this helps....
