Have you tried uninstalling the ASUS Virtual Webcam software? If you do
that, then you should only have the Laptop Integrated webcam option. I
have an ASUS and I've never used or installed that software when I
reloaded my machine.
http://leteckaposta.cz/[removed for privacy] Unfortunately it did not work, I still discover this.
1. Download the latest Chicony (or Suyin) driver for Windows 7. Check here: http://support.asus.com/Download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=Camera&p=3&os=) 2. Extract contents to desktop. 3. Click the ORB button. right-click on Computer and select Properties. 4. Select Device Manager. 5. Click on Imaging Devices to show the name of the webcam. 6. Right-click on the name of the webcam and select Properties. 7. Go to the Driver tab. click on Update Driver. a new window should pop-up. 8. Click 'Browse my computer for driver software'. select 'Let me pick from a list of device drivers on my computer'. 9. On the next window, it'll give you the current driver. click 'Have Disk'. click Browse. Browse to the desktop and select lastest driver that you've downloaded. it'll be then added to the list of drivers. select the new driver and click Next. Just follow the prompts so that it'll install the new driver.
If still this does not work, try this: Re-install the camera virtual camera using your ASUS hardware disc and follow this step.
1.Insert ASUS hardware disc and "open" 2.Click "explorer" 3.Click "software" 4.Click "camera", then choose and click chicony folder 5.Open the folder APPLICATION/installer, and re-install the ASUS virtual camera.
Once you already installed the driver, go to start menu click or type ASUS lifeframe then open it.
have you tried pressing Fn+V keys? V key has a camera icon and when Fn key is pressed together with it, Asus lifeFrame utility opens. Only then your webcam will be activated. Enjoy!
You can turn on and off the ASUS virtual camera by pressing the FN+V. The Virtual camera uses software called ASUS lifeframe. You can locate and launch it by looking under the ASUS utility group of Icons for Lifeframe. When you open the application it is usually set to video mode. So, to switch it to camera click on the camera icon which is located at the lower left circular menu. To locate the photos, you will find them in your document folder [Documents\ASUS\LifeFrame\Image].
1.Open Device Manager 2.Open Imaging Devices 3.Right click on USB 2.0 and open properties. 4.Open Details and in property click on Hardware Ids to find PID Number for your web camera for example:USB\VID_04F2&PID_B1E5&mi_00. 5.Go on ASUSTEK website and download the camera driver looking for the real driver using the PID from your computer. 6.After downloading of Driver, first Uninstall the previous version of camera driver and restart the computer to take effect this Uninstall. 7.And finally You can install the Driver what You download. This is for ASUS K52N and I know, because I had same problem with upside down image/video on web camera. Thank You.
Go to start and search for Asus virtual camera. right click asus virtual camera. go to properties. click the compatibility tab. and click the box that says run in 256 colors.
Built in webcams are not the easiest to troubleshoot as its difficult to reboot the webcam software. With my plug-in I can just disconnect it for a couple of seconds to reboot it and clear the previous program. Its not unusual for webcam software to remain hooked up to a program even after you exit it correctly. What is unusual with yours the webcam comes on when you start your computer. You might try to disable your webcam and then enable it again in the 'Imaging' folder of your Device Manager to see if the webcam light goes off and remains off when you enable it again. You should be able to see where the webcam is being used by launching your Task Manager and hitting the Application tab. Hope you can get your problem sorted and post some information on it for future reference
There's a few things you can do (i know about webcammax).
Download, install, and run Ccleaner from www.ccleaner.com, this will remove residual files left behind. After you install ccleaner, choose "tools" then choose the webcammax software.
If that doesn't work:
Uninstall the logitech software itself (webcammax creates a virtual cam driver and embeds itself).
Restore windows to a previous date from installing webcammax. I know this can be a b*tch, but it may be the only way to do it.
Run ccleaner in normal mode after trying each of these.
I happen to be on Stickam right now. www.stickam.com/profile/nitrotrike. If you want, find me, and I can talk you through it live.
