Kenmore Elite Ultra Wash Dishwasher - top rack arm not spinning

I have a Kenmore Elite Ultra Wash dishwasher Model # 665.16572201. The top spray will rotate freely if you move it by hand, but does not rotate during the wash cycle. What can I do?

Top rack arm is spinning freely but after the wash the top rack dishware is still dirty. I suspect the arm is not spinning. Maybe because the water tube is not connecting properly. How do I fix this?

I am experiencing the same issue my model # is 655.1375. I can confirm the top sprayer assembly is not spinning.

I have the same problem too... The top rack used to clean quite well. Now I notice that although water is coming out of the top rack arm, it is not spinning. I've taken apart some of the inside of the washer to check for blockages, but no luck. Thought there would be a blocked filter or something....

Hi: I just posted a similar problem, but found a solution. After taking the arm, etc. apart (and verifying no blockages), I thought maybe the lack of water pressure was being caused by the fact that there are TWO holes for the top spray arm (higher and lower rack setting) on my model. ie. that water was being forced out of both holes, causing a drop in water pressure, which was causing the top spray arm to stop spinning. I plugged the unused hole with a wine bottle cork (to keep the water from spraying out the unused hole), and voila, it now works.

I wish all appliance fixes were this easy...!

It all started with the flatware rack developing large gaps at the bottom caused by sharp knives. Those little pieces of plastic found their way to the chopper assembly, which had to be replaced. When the chopper blade doesn't grind food solids, those bits of garbage find their way to the spray arms and clog the spray holes. The water jets that are supposed to produce enough pressure to spin the arm, don't. After replacing the chopper assembly, thoroughly cleaning the spray arms and flushing the system without the arms inside, put it back together.POINT YOUR KNIVES UP.

Kenmore ultra wash III portable dishwasher. Model #1765991. Lower wash arm came off. How do I re-attach?

Hello. The lower spray arm screws down onto the center, round, plastic part (spinner) that has threads on the center portion. It's very loose and spins easily because it uses the water spray to drive it. At the top of the threads, there will be a flat piece of plastic. Set the spray arm down onto the threads. Hold the flat plastic area that sticks out above the arm with pliers. Spin the spray arm counter-clockwise while holding the spinner. It will thread itself down about a turn or so. Snug firmly--DON'T OVER-TIGHTEN the spray arm onto the spinner. Remember, it only uses water pressure to spin so it doesn't have to be "gorilla tight"! I hope this helps you!

No water going thru washer arms

Check to see if the top rack wash arm water fitting is mating with the outlet on the back inside of the machine and the spinning was arm. This fitting can become displaced causing the water from the pump to just spray out into the washer and not clean the dishes on the top rack. it's usually just a matter of re-positioning the fitting and making sure it's connected to the top rack spinning wash manifold.

Top rack not cleaning

Some dishwashers have a telescoping nozzle in the center on the bottom. If this is blocked by a large pot in the middle of the bottom tray, the nozzle will only extend up into the pot, and not be able to spray the entire top rack.

Also, some models have an arm mounted in the top. Check and see if it can spin freely, and if it's nozzles are clogged.

De-clog by soaking the part in vinegar.

only the top rack isnt getting clean?
there is a little plastic circle in the middle of the bottom of the upper spray arm. turn it counter clock wise to pull the upper spray arm from the upper rack. make sure that isnt clogged and the spray holes are not clogged. otherwise....

the piece that the bottem spray arm plugs into and runs along the back wall of the tank to the top is called a feed tube. pull the bottom spray arm out. now you can see the part of the feed tube that feeds the upper spray arm water. does it pop out freely and easily? if so then you need a new feed tube, if not then its most likely your not achieving the right water level or your impeller connected to your circulation pump(motor) is clogged not supplying enough water pressure to travel up the feed tube to spin the upper spray arm.

Dishes not getting clean

brittgee, there has been a number of service flashes on this model. One that has to do with the upper spray arm assy. Complaint is poor washability; gritty glasses, food redeposited on glasses, especially in the corners. They redesigned the upper spray arm to improve water spray to all corners of the upper rack. The new part number is 8269022. They also redesigned the third level spinner for more consistant rotation and better washability. This was also under a service flash. Part number.8193768. Other reasons for poor wash would be; low water temperature, rinse aid disp. not working, loading etc. Catriver...post back.
