I had the same issue reset the player and continue holding down the reset button. Then turn the power on while still holding the reset button it'll shut back down, but when you turn it back on it should work.

My gogear facing hanging problems many times,so what should i do?

Press the reset button on the back. If that does not work then you need to reflashthe firmware. This is done by downloading the flashing tool and new firmware off the Philips website. Make sure you backup all our music because reflashing will delete everything. Thanks for using Fixya. ~WEBMASTER21

My gogear is frozen. One song ended and before the next one started it froze and it has been like this for several hours. It doesn't respond to any of teh buttons being pushed

Try doing a soft reset. 1. Press and hold the Power on/off key and the volume + key for a couple of seconds. 2. Then switch on the GoGear using the Power on/off key. Note: Your songs and data will not be lost or corrupted by a soft reset. Update your players firmware to the latest version to reduce the chance of future hang-ups. All it does is go to the "GoGear" screen

This player is virtually obsolete - you may have a hardware problem which will require calling Philips to see if it is still in-warranty. Notice the warnings on Philips website that indicates that plugging this device into a computer running
Windows Vista or Windows Media Player 11.

Here is something you can try:

Triple Reset for Philips’ GoGear:

Disconnect the Go Gear from computer. Press the reset pinhole until the player turns off. Hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard. If this pop-up does not appear, reset the player again WHILE connected to the computer. Open the Philips Device Manager, and go to Repair Tab. Reset the player one more time while connected to computer. Follow the repair instructions.

After repair is complete, upgrade the firmware for this player. Will erase all the songs, but you should be good to go again.
