BOSE ACOUSTIMASS SYSTEM 15 SUBWOOFER - NO POWER

I just purchased a Bose Acoustimass 15 speaker system through Craiglists, and the subwoofer component dosen't appear to power on. Not having owned one of these before I'm not sure if a light is suppose to light up somewhere when the system is turned on -or if some sort of sounds is suppose to initially emit from the subwoofer initially. Can anyone shead some light on this(? - also (just in case) is there some sort of fuse or something else that I could look at checking if the box is not firing-up? (thanks)

I'm having the exact same issue with my subwoofer. I'm going to crack it open and check for that fuse!

I will try as best I can... There is no light on the unit. There is a two position switch, that's your on/off switch located on the botttom of the unit next to the pwr cord input... When the straight lined side is pushed down the unit is energized. When you pwr up the unit you should hear a light bump, not a cracking noise. There is a fuse on the main input/output board that is pretty easy to pop and swap.

All I did was unplug my surge protecter for a 1 minute and once I did that I had bass from the module again.  I am using a Belkin PURE AV power console.

I aquired Bose Acoustimass 15 surround sound through home purchase. Hooked wires up to reciever and hdmi to tv and i got nothing. my question is, how do you turn on the sub? just plug it in?

Hey Any chance you have the Acoustimass 15 II or III? The first Acoustimass 15 has a switch. The II and II models turn off and on when it receives a signal from the source you are using. Amplifier, ect. All you need to do is make sure everything hooked up correctly and plug it in.

okay i think you may have a problem within your connections i dont think its internal like a bad component or something such as that but make sure your wires are in good condition and most important they are hooked up properly and that should take care of your problem

Gap contact

You can try and use another cable. I've read before that changing the cable can fix that problem. If you know how to solder you can make your own cable. All you need is a female 15-pin d-type connector and some speaker wire. Here's a diagram of the connections:

Need longer ribbon speaker wire for Acoustimass 16

I have the same question. I just called Bose at 1-877-210-3782 (prompt 6) and they have two solutions:

1. 20 foot Input extension - $25
2. Input adaptor - $12 (you can run your own speaker cable to the input adaptor)

The master on/off switch will usually be on the back (or maybe even the bottom) of the largest component, which contains the power and control circuits.

Bose acoustimass 15 series 1 channel loss

Sounds like you may have a blown output transistor or chip, which generally show no external signs of damage. This would take an experienced technician to find and fix, and I commend you for knowing to check the speakers, receiver and cables through substitution! If you're handy with a soldering iron and can find the parts, try replacing the output transistors or chips in question. These are what usually fail in audio power amplifiers - also check any power resistors for opens - some of them are designed to act as fuses to protect the more expensive components.
