Hour glass stuck on the screen and buttons don't do anything
I bought this what i was told an apple ipod nano 8GB, it was for a raffle and after recieving it in the mail..to find out its a knock off of a real apple ipod nano..it even has the apple logo and iPod on the back with 8GB on ...the give away it was fake is when i connected it to my computer and downloaded music on it..no way near like a real apple.
The problem I am having is that after 3 days of use..the screen is stuck with an hour glass on it. I tried to hold down menu and the middle button it did nothing. I played with the on/off switch nothing goes right back to hour glass. There was no manual with this at all and I dont even know the real bran of it as it has the apple on it., Also it has speaker on the back of it. ..I don't know what to do to fix this..
I can't take the battery out because there is no way to open the thing up to do so.
Also there was no CD with the item..just usb cable, earphones and a portable usb wall charger.

Re: hour glass stuck on the screen and buttons don't do...
To paraphrase, you own a counterfeit product that doesn't work, the manufacturer of which is a criminal fraudster who made sure you couldn't identify or contact him.
All I can advise is that you contact the original seller, and (if the item arrived in the US mail) the Postal Inspector.

I have the same problem with the new model that just came this week. I have tried everything. I am furstrated that apple has no 24 hour support on these things as they have sooooo much business. Their automated line tried to help, but with their marketshare, you'd think they'd have 24/7 support. I plan on taking it back tomorrow.
You need to reset your ipod. Flip the hold switch on then off, then press select button and menu button at same time. Hold for 10 seconds or so. Ipod should shut off and reboot to apple screen. If this doesn't work first time try again. This should solve any stuck screen problems. Mine was stuck on pioneer screen and this operation fixed it.
Try holding the menu button and center button at the same time. this should reset the ipod completely. Its a force power up and power down similar to Zapping your PRAM on a computer. this should reset the configurations Hopefully that helps
Don't throw it out - yet!
If your iPod nano is not responding, you need to manually reset it. The instructions are in the manual; but I have typed them below for your reference:
Slide the Hold switch to HOLD and back again. Then press the Menu and Center buttons at the same time for about 6 Seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
