Bought a new Mustek1248ub scanner, and was installed perfectly. My computer had a problem and was reconfigured, but now can't find my disc to reinstall my scanner. What do I do now to get my scanner installed to my PC without the disc which is already lost???

I hab Bought one USB-to-Parallel connector to connect my Canon Scanner .But I cannot able to scan .It displays Error Code 0*00070800. No scanners detected My Scanner mobel No :Canon N640P ex

I have many years of experince repairing Canon scanners so here is my suggestion.

First off I would go back to USB its faster then a parallel cable for scanning purposes. Second if your computer is a very old one then just get a usb card and install it in to your computer. Also make sure you have the latest drivers for the operating system your running. The drivers are free on Canons website. Just google Canon Canoscan N640P drivers it should take you directly to Canon's website also I would download capture perfect its free also an will function perfectly with your scanner.

When you install the newest drivers make sure your scanner is disconnected from your computer. Once the drivers are installed then attach the USB cable to your computer. You should get a message saying new drivers are being installed then reboot your computer and you should be good to go with whatever you want to scan.

I hope this helps you out.

I bought a new com. and now I can't find my instal. cd for my Canon Scanner D646Uex. Is there a way to obtain one please?

I have many years experience repairing Canon scanners so here is my suggestion for you.

You can contact Canon directly and Im sure they will be happy to sell you one. Or if you just need to get the scanner back up and running again here is what I would do. Just google Canon CanoScan D646U drivers. A page should come up that takes you to the official Canon website. Download the latest drivers for your scanner they are free. While your there download Capture Perfect its software you can use for scanning and its free too. Make sure your scanner cable is unplugged from your computer install the new drivers and rehook up the cable with the scanner powered on. A window should pop up saying a new device or drivers are being installed. Once that completes reboot(restart) your computer and you should be good to scan now.

I hope this helps you out.

Missing the disc

Well the good news is you don't have to pick up a disc :-) . You can actually download the driver for the scanner here (the driver is the software that allows the computer to see the scanner)

http://www.usa.canon.com/opd/controller?act=OPDSoftwareAct&fcategoryid=2341&modelid=7181

On that page you want the second one down (2080INF.exe)

Here is what you are going to need to do:

  1. Download that file
  2. Double Click on the file and then hit "Run" followed by "Unzip"
  3. Click the "Start" button
  4. Click "Control Panel"
  5. Double Click "Scanners & Camera's"
  6. On the left menu (it is the blue menu on the left) select "Add Imaging Device"
  7. A wizard will now come up , click "next"
  8. It will now ask what kind of scanner/camera you want to install, on the bottom right is a button that reads "Have Disk" ; click that
  9. Hit "Browse"
  10. Navigate to the folder where you un-zipped the original download to. By default it went to "C:/DR208C/INF" - In that folder you will see a file named "CANODR2K" , double click it.
  11. Hit "Ok"
  12. Select how it is connected (USB or SCSI)
  13. Finish the wizard
And thats it! Now your scanner is installed on the computer and you can scan......

Also on the original CD is a software called "Capture Perfect" , which is the software that is used for actually scanning with your scanner , you can download that here: http://www.softpedia.com/get/Multimedia/Graphic/Graphic-Capture/Capture-Perfect.shtml
