What happens if you sign into your computer as a different user? Do you have administrator permissions on the machine? If this computer is on a domain, it could be that the administrator has set the policy so you can't use the screensaver. If this is your home computer, there is still a possiblity there is a local policy blocking it, but I would try logging in as a different person to see if they are affected the same way. If they aren't, then it's something to do with your user profile (possible corruption).

The screen saver is a function of the video driver. Reinstall the video driver and the screensaver tab should appear

Create A Personal Screen Saver In Win Xp!

This isnt a tweak, but a great little feature! For a great way to put your digital photos to work, try creating a slide show presentation for use as a screen saver. Here's how:

1. Right-click an empty spot on your desktop and then click Properties.

2. Click the Screen Saver tab.

3. In the Screen saver list, click My Pictures Slideshow.

4. Click Settings to make any adjustments, such as how often the pictures should change, what size they should be, and whether you'll use transition effects between pictures, and then click OK.

Now your screen saver is a random display of the pictures taken from your My Pictures folder.

Screen saver keeps poping up if i stop typing and i have 2 keep unlocking screen everytime i get back on computer and also slide show comes up when its sitting 4 awhile

xp:
1. right click on unused space on your desktop and click properties to bring the display properties, (you can also go into start>control panel and double click on display)
2.then go to the screen saver tab and click on it
3. modify the time for screen saver to come up and uncheck the box that says "on resume password protect" so you're not asked for a password everytime your screen saver is on and you're returning to work on your computer.

vista:

it's a bit different than xp but similiar in some sense..
when you right click on the desktop go to "Personalize" to bring the display properties and then go to screen saver and modify the wait time and password protected settings.

hope that helps!!

post back if you have any problems

How to change background

These tabs are the only way to change the background or screen saver. The display properties are integrated into the operating system, so, if the tabs are missing, this is an error with the operating system. Start with a system restore. Keep going back until they show on the display properties. If a restore doesn't work, then you will need to do an operating system repair with your recovery or operating system disc.
