Question about PC Desktops

1 Answer

Software problems(?) with a digital camera.

I have a Fujifilm Finepix S100fs digital camera working with Finepix Viewer Picture, the Fuji photo suite . I run Windows Vista.

Problem - the Finepix software specifies that I can "save images to camera(PTP/MTP)" but in practice I am unable to do so. A call to Fuji's service department was unhelpful, telling me that this was not an isolated problem and can be attributed to incompatibilities between XP and Vista.

I feel the answer Fuji gave me was inappropriate and now seek "higher authority"

Over to you,
Trevor

There is nothing more of a general nature that I can add. If there are specific questions that can be asked of me to further describe the problem, please fire away.

You could try right clicking on finepix viewer and go properties. On the compatibility tab tick the box in "run this program for..." and select xp then go apply and ok and then try it. It might just be a compatibility issue

I have photos that show in the folders on my computer, but when I open a photo in Lightroom or Photoshop CS4 they do not show. Anyone had that problem?

Try opening them using a different program. If you right click on the picture there will be an option "Open With" choose something like "Windows Picture Viewer" or even "Paint" should work. What are the file extensions...(ie .bmp, jpeg..etc)?

Pictures on my digital camera.Cant transfer them to the computer

I'm not sure you need any software to actually view camera pictures on xp, though there are many programs made for managing and embellishing pictures once you get them loaded into your computer's memory. Please go to this link for a general exposition of xp digital camera use.
Then connect your camera to your computer, and follow these instructions to download the photos into a file somewhere. (Maybe you want to create a folder in your My Pictures folder entitled Canon photos or something like that, just to keep them straight.) If you don't get an option to open the camera wizard, you can start it manually by going
to control panel>scanners and cameras>add a camera and the wizard should find your camera plugged in and start the download process...you can browse to the folder you created to have it store your photos there, or use the default. Once they're downloaded, you can access your photos using windows explorer.
But there are also a couple of great image viewer available as freeware: I can recommend both FastStone Image Viewer available here and Irfan View (available here)
Have fun, and don't worry about that red eye!

I hope this information allows you to resolve this issue. If you need further assistance, please post back with a comment to this thread.
If I've managed to answer your question or solve a problem, please take just a moment to rate this post....thanks!

some software are intended just to a certain hardware or for a certain file types. but if you are installing just a common picture viewer maybe it is not configured to look or point into a folder where your picture are. what software was it actualy? what operating system do you have and what types of file your software can read?

Downloading photos

Digital cameras have often an USB cable, which you connect between your camera and USB interface at your computer. Turn on the camera and your computer recognize the camera and install it as a drive. You can then transfer your photos from camera to the computer.

You can update your software from the fujifilm website

This is vista compatible.
