Www.routerpasswords.com should help.

try "http://192.168.0.1" (I think for D-LINK equipment) in your browser URL. If you get a logon on screen, then you can enter the default ID, and password for your model given to you from the site above. Once you are in, then you can set it up.

Do you know if DHCP is running on the router? If you have Windows XP, go to Start, Run, type CMD. In the dos box that appears, type ipconfig /all. Your IP address should be in one of the private LAN ranges - for D-Link, it's usually 192.168.0.x, where x designates your unique address in the dotted quad range. If it shows 169.254.x.x, where x can be any number, that means that you are correctly setup as a dynamic IP requester, but the router isn't setup as a DHCP server.

That's probably the case - if so, go to Start, My Network Places, or go to Network settings in the Control Panel. Right-click the Lan Connection and pick properties. Make sure you are running these protocols: Client for Microsoft Networks, File and Printer Sharing, and last but not least, Internet protocol (TCP/IP). Double-click that protocol. Hard code in an IP within the same subnet of your router, which for D-Link routers, it is usually 192.168.0.X, where X is something other than 1. Tab to the subnet mask, it will automatically set the correct dotted quad of 255.255.255.0, then set the Gateway to the router, 192.168.0.1. Go back to the dos box and type in ping 192.168.0.1
It should show replies if that worked. If so, log on to your router, turn on the DHCP server, allocate the number of IPs you want to allow, and save the setting. Go back to your Network Properties and set your PC to Obtain an IP Address and DNS addresses automatically. Save that setting, exit out of the Network Properties dialog box, give a few seconds to see the DHCP server and get a dynamic IP, complete with the DNS settings from the ISP (you'll need to get on the internet). That should get you going. If not, reply back with the IP address(es) that show up in the original ipconfig /all, along with any other information, i.e., there is another router in another part of the building, DHCP is running, but I can't get an address (have you tried a wired connection, just to see if it's the wireless security that's on the router), ect. Good luck!

I have a Dlink dsl 2640u. I updated the firmware, but now I can't access the configration page.

try to hard reset the router by pressing the reset button on the back for about 10 sec and after doing that try to make sure that you are hardwired to the router. then try to access the configuration page again. this should work.

Wireless router

Yes, you can use wireless router with the modem. I guess the actiontech DSl router that you have is also Wireless one. If so, you can use just the DSL router for wireless connection. If you really want to use Dlink router with it, Connect the ( WAN port ) of the Dlink router to the ( LAN Port ) of the Action tech modem [ modem(LAN)-->Dlink(WAN) ]. Once you do this connection, better to do power cycle ( unplug the pwr to the dlink first, then, disconnect the pwr to action tech - wait 1min and plug the pwr to modem, wait for DSL light to be solid , then put the pwr back to dlink ). Make sure DSL light on the modem solid, internet light & WLAN light on the link glowing.
- Make Hardwire connection between the computer to Dlink and check the ip address on the computer whether it acquires the ip address from Dlink and then check the internet connection on the computer, it has to work. if computer not getting ip from dlink, try restarting computer.
- If hardwire connection on the dlink works fine and check the wireless connection.

For wireless configuration or assistance you may check this link:

please feel free to ask, if you have any more assistance.
