GX 340 was installed on a Garden Tractor. Started and run fine before mounting engine. I have checked grounds, Battery, all connections and wires, Fuse in control box. Im not sure what happened? Engine will pull start but will not shut off with key? Any ideas?

honda motor uses a black with red line wire for ignition cut-out short to ground and see if motor cuts out also located by the low oil level sensor and keyswitch box must be grounded since the ground lead of switch is fastened by a screw inside the box.if you ground the lead and does not shut off you may hav an open circuit in the ignition coil especially if this engine uses a pulse generator also located by flywheel.

I think both problems could be wiring in the key switch box. Sometimes the connectors shake loose.

GX (or GTX, not sure) 360, 5.5 hp Honda engine on a pressure washer; engine will start and run perfect for about 30-45 seconds, no smoke or rough idle during that time, then engine dies and will not start...

Try draining all the fuel from the tank and carburetor. Replenish with fresh fuel. Try using an additive that keeps the fuel fresh longer and will displace some moisture. Good luck.

Have a gx 340 how do you set the throttle up to run and stay there do you tighten that nut at the end of the throttle handle

Yes, tighten the locknut as per your preference. Most engines that I see have the nut very tight because the owners never change the speed. The horsepower rating for your engine is measured at 3600 rpm. If you constantly use your machine at max pressure and if you have a pressure gage, adjust the engine to give max pressure and thread stop screw up to leaver position. To maximise to life of your unit, adjust your machine to say 80 percent of max and try not to leave machine running with trigger off for long periods of time.

Go to this page:

You must have your exact engine model number listed on the side of the engine crankcase near the lower mount and oil plug.

Thanks for choosing FiXya.

I need to buy a pressure washer for residential/commercial work

Were I to pick from one of those three, I would pick the Landa. The most reliable pumps are Hotsy and since Karcher bought Landa and Hotsy, those three brands now have Hotsy pumps, though it doesn't say it on the machines.

MY GX 240 starts fine runs great any where from 30

Can your gas tank breathe? Is your fuel filter clogged? Might there be something in the tank that would obstruct the flow of fuel?

Check the tank by loosening the top to allow air to enter.

Let me know what happens

I have a problem with my karcher 2500 pressure washer with honda engine it will not start or stay running. I have used starting fluid to start it it starts but won't stay running.

Carb is mostly likely gummed up and should be cleaned. Best option is to dismantle the carb and soak in solvent or equivelant for a couple hours and replace it. Our use Gum Out. Do make sure you have a good spark plug and a strong spark. If you have a fuel filter, then replace it. Check intake filter as well

Laking below sprayer large rubber piece covers area that is leaking

Sounds like your thermal relief has popped and is not reseting. These are an easy replacement. Usually availble as a "thermal relief valve" in sizes 3/8npt or 1/4"npt ..national pipe thread. Might also mean that your pump is overheating. Check and replace the pump oil. Make sure you do not allow this sprayer to sit and run without triggering the gun every couple of minutes.
