If your timer is not turning off the pump its probably wired incorrectly. Check the wires on the back of timer as it should work the same as a regular light switch. They may be reversed.

Intermittent Intermatic Pool Timer T40003RT3 The pool timer is 220v but only one 110v 20amp breaker in the breaker box to the pool equipment and when it is off the pump will not run in manual mode.

http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-wire-Intermatic-control-centers.html

http://waterheatertimer.org/Intermatic-control-centers-and-manuals.html#RT3

RT3 series has T104 240 volt timer -or- T103 120 volt timer, -plus- low voltage transformer for pool light.
The circuit breaker can be used for transformer, or another outlet or nearby light etc, or it can be used for a T103 120 volt timer.
To trace the wire back to breaker box.... open you main panel and start turning off breakers one at a time and label the panel.
See if you have single breaker or double breaker supplying power to pool equipment.

My EJ35IC timer seems to be preprogrammed, and i cannot erase it. can you help? thank you

There is no repair for defective timer.
Unknown if this is new timer, or timer that worked before and stopped working.
Add a comment any time.

Try resetting timer using instructions from manual: Move control lever to OFF-CLEAR position for about 20 seconds. Red indicator light will go off, and all previous programming will be cleared.
Then move control lever to ON position and red indicator will start flashing. Reprogram timer.
If functionality is not restored, then timer might be defective.

Pool pump starts randomly (as if there is a short) even when it is not set to start and stop. Otherwise works fine, not sure if I need to replace unit or dissassemble and clean or ????? T21004R

Sounds like 240Volt WG1573 clock motor has gone bad and needs replacement. But more checking is needed.

You posted under T2100-4R which is 60 amp Intermatic control panel with a single T104M 240Volt timer mechanism.
All Intermatic timer mechanisms can fit into same control center, so you can possibly have different timer mechanism inserted into the T2100-4R control center.
The control center can have up to 4 circuit breakers.
Instruction manual shows that timer can also have fireman's switch that is wired to pool heater and causes pool heater to turn off 20 minutes before pool pump turns off.
http://www.poolandspacontrols.com/products/mechanical%20controls/60%20amp%20pool%20and%20spa%20control%20panels.aspx

(1) First thing: If you have T104 mechanism, do a troubleshoot run-down to see if trippers, clock motor, or wiring are suspect:
http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-troubleshoot-Intermatic-timer.html

(2) Next would be to check the circuit breakers for loose wires, burned connections, or the smell of burning or crackling sound that says breaker is loose on the busbar.

(3) Check for loose wiring on T104 and test circuit:
http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-wire-T104-Intermatic-timer.html
(a) Push the manual override lever to OFF position and test across terminals 1 and 2 and then across terminals 3 and 4 to make sure timer is turning off power to pump. Both tests should show 0 volts.
(b) Push manual override lever to to ON position and repeat test above. Both tests should show 240 volts.
If the test fails, then buy new T104M timer mechanism.

(4) If the T104 timer is turning off both lines in the 240Volt circuit, then pump cannot turn on since neither wire is Hot.
However if your T104 timer is actually a T101 timer or if timer has different wiring, where timer is turning off only 1 leg and not both legs of 240Volt circuit, then pump has one hot wire available and a short to ground could cause pump to turn on unexpectedly.

We have the intermatic timer Model EJ351 and when I go to set the timer at the beginning it does not flash. It is when I start from off to on. Mary Ann

Mary Ann:

It appears that it will start flashing when you move from off to on. Here are the directions from the web site.

Gary

Move the control lever to the OFF-CLEAR position for about

20 seconds. The red indicator light will go off and any previous

time settings will be cleared from memory.

Move the control lever to the ON position. The Red indicator

light will start flashing.

Rotate the time dial clockwise at least one click, stopping at

the half hour nearest to the present time.

NOTE: During programming, be careful not to press the

dial while turning it. If you press the dial, you will accidentally

set a wrong time.

Press the dial once to set the present time. The Red indicator

light will go off.

Rotate the time dial clockwise to the first desired ON time.

The Red light will pulse momentarily with each click.

Press the dial once to enter the ON time. The light controlled

by the switch timer will turn ON.

Rotate the time dial clockwise to the desired OFF time.

Press the dial once to enter the OFF time. The light controlled

by the switch timer will turn OFF.

Repeat Steps 5-8 for each additional ON/OFF setting.

Continue to rotate the time dial until the Red indicator light

comes ON and stays ON, indicating that the switch timer is in

AUTOMATIC mode.

I don't know if you have a 240V pump and 120V cleaner.
Or if both are 120V

T10000 series manual has troubleshooting
http://www.polytecpools.com/images/pdf/intermatic_t10000r.pdf

I specialize in timers.
If the manual override will not work and the circuit cannot be stopped by the timer:
Then the timer is bad.

To check for sure:
When pool pump is OFF, use tester and check voltage across terminals 1 and 2 on pump side
When cleaner is OFF, use tester and check voltage across terminals 1 and 2 on cleaner side

What test results show:
The cleaner side test across 1 and 2 should show no voltage when timer is OFF
The pump side test across 1 and 2 should also show no voltage when timer is OFF

If the pump side test across 1 and 2 shows voltage all the time, then the timer is broken.
There are no replacement parts for the internal on-off mechanism.

You have what is called a 2-channel timer.
A single-channel timer can operate 2 or more Loads (pump, cleaner), but the Loads turn on-and-off at the same time.
A 2-channel timer has a clock (or digital program in the case of digital timers) so each Load turns on-and-off with a different schedule.

As a general rule, 2-channel timers are more expensive.
To avoid the higher price, you can replace a two channel timer with 2 ordinary timers.
Let me offer a replacement strategy that might save you money.
Keep the existing timer for the cleaner.
a) Buy Intermatic T-104R weatherproof timer if you have 240V pool pump.
b) Buy Intermatic T-101R weatherproof timer if you have 120V pool pump.
Here is a resource for the Intermatic timer I am suggesting:
The webpage has links to sellers, it has manuals and it has wiring diagrams for the do-it-yourself-er

I have a intermatic ej351 in my garage to turn the outside coach lights on and off. I made the mistake of putting some 10 year bulbs in the coach lights and now the red light on the timer just flashes...

I answer questions for free.
I specialize in timers and electrical devices

Below is the manual for the EJ351
http://www.intermatic.com/~/media/files/intermatic/products/instructions/timers/ej351c%20-%20english.ashx
The red light is a good indicator of the EJ351 timer.
The manuals says that you can clear all programming by moving control lever to OFF-CLEAR position for 20 seconds.
After programs are cleared, the red light will turn off.
Then move control lever to ON position, and then red indicator light will start flashing.
So the problem may be that the timer programs were accidentally cleared.
Use the instruction manual to re-program your timer.

storing them as programmed settings:

Move the control lever to the OFF-CLEAR position for about
20 seconds. The red indicator light will go off and any previous
