Hello. The pcb board is "married" to the motherboard with a certain firmware. If you didn't flash the new drive with the correct firmware it will not work. The best thing to do is just replace the laser if you have DVD drive problems. I hope you still have the old one! Good luck to you. Thanks!

Xbox 360 will not read any game disc

Have you tried a known good disc? have you tried one of these discs in another 360? if you have and they work, but they dont work in yours, it sounds like the CD ROM drive is defective.
If you have the knowhow, you can buy and install a replacement drive for under about 40 dollars. Here is a link I found on amazon complete with reviews

How to install the dvd-rom drive model ts-h943

In response to the November 2006 update error that "bricked" his console, Mr. Kevin Ray of California has filed a class action lawsuit against Microsoft in Washington federal court in early December of 2006.[64] The lawsuit seeks $5 million in damages and the free repair of any console rendered unusable by the update. This will be the second such lawsuit filed against Microsoft, the first having been filed in December of 2005, shortly after the 360's launch.
Following Microsoft's announcement in December 2006 that it would extend the Xbox 360 warranty to a full year, from the previous 90 days, Ray's attorney confirmed to the Seattle Post Intelligencer that the lawsuit had been resolved under confidential terms.[65]

Installed new Xbox DVD ROM, but cannot read games

The DVD drives must match the motherboard that it came with. Unless you go through a very complicated re-flashing process. If the motherboard and DVD drive do not match, it will not play 360 games

What i need to connect xbox 360 to pc

The VIA VT6421A chipset is the exact chipset you need to connect your 360 to PC, so yes that card will work perfectly.
Keep in mind if your thinking of flashing your dvd drive, I think this chipset designed to only work with the TS-H943 and Phillips model.

Dvd rom

Hi,
I,ll assume this regarding the X-Box 360 ?
If you,ve replaced the Drive on a 360.
It will not work, due to the fact that the dvd rom drive, is paired to the motherboard. you can,t simply swap a faulty drive.
When the 360 boots, it,s looking for a Key On the dvd rom, before it will initialise it, and bootup.
I,d suggest looking on the net, regarding XBOX 360 drive flashing. if you still have your original drive, keep it. as your xbox won,t boot without it. you have to backup the drives key ( number ) And have it reflashed onto a replacement drive.
you could try a laser lens cleaner. Or possibly laser unit replacement.

Won't read disks a lot of the time.

I am having the same problem, about 2 weeks ago when logging into Xbox Live it required yet another update, within a couple days my drive made some grinding noises a few time, said unable to read disks and now "open tray" is all I get, I'm hoping it is the laser lens and have one being shipped. I tried a dvd cleaner as well as opening and cleaning the laser, mirror as best I could, but I think there are issues with the TS-H943 dvd drive in the past which is what I have, if cleaning doesn't work, call MS for repair/replacement if under warranty, if not you may be in the same boat, I'm hoping its just a laser issue and not a DVD key issue which I'm betting on. I've read of several similar issues recently and could be another try for MS on their anti-pirate mis-attempts. We all know what a bunch of morons employed at MS can accomplish!
