I have this Moto RAZR V3, SIM-less CDMA phone. I had a number into this which has now been closed. When I visit the TATA-Indicom hub to get a new number, they told I should clear the previous number from the phone (they said: "you will have to blank this phone of previous number") only then they can add the new number to the phone and make it working.

It can be done it other service provider can give you the service on that same hand set. Your hand set has to be flashed (Erase data of the current service provider) and reinstall date of the new service provider. This can only be done if the facility is available. You need to contact the service providers and ask them for details on this.
Imei are found only in GSM technology phones. If your phone is GSM and requires a SIM card to work, the type *#06# and a number should poop up. Another place to find it is in the battery compartment. IF it doesn't have an imei number and do not need a SIM card, then you must have a CDMA or WCDMA technology phone. These technologies are used by Verizon, Sprint.
will not work with boost mobile, (even if it is unlocked) you might be able to use it with boost mobile cdma, which uses sprint service. they no longer advertise this service, but still accept new users. give boost a call and ask them for the boost mobile cdma number
This phone is a CDMA phone if you don't see an IMEI #. IMEI numbers are only for GSM services (phones that take a SIM Card).
GSM cellular companies include T-Mobile & AT&T. CDMA companies include Alltel (now Verizon Wireless), Sprint (includes iDEN network features as well) and Boost Mobile (another company that uses CDMA technologies).
And as far as the other number, it's more than likely an MEID number (basically a hex that probably begins with an "A" followed by a series of alpha numerics.)
what network are you using with this phone, let me know and i can give you the correct service number and this will sort the problems, another way is to ring your service provider and ask for a sim update
What is a "Subsidy Unlock Code"?
A "Subsidy Unlock Code" is a code that is unique to your phone. The code is assigned by the original service provider the phone was manufactured for so that it cannot be taken to another carrier for activation without their permission.
If this error message should appear you will need to contact the service provider for assistance.

Yes, that is exactly what it is. Both phones are at&t, therefore all u would have to do is change the sim card. If one was a different carrier, then it would get a little more complicated and you would need to unlock the device.
