Do any lights come on at all? If it seems to come on but does not render a picture this is most likely a memory issue. Also, to your knowledge has the system been dropped, opened up, hardware added, or anything of that nature? Do the power lights come up when you plug in the power adapter to show the battery is charging? Have you tried booting up without the battery and just the power adapter plugged in?
Get on a friend's computer and go to http://support.gateway.com/support and enter your information on the website, and it should be able to give you specific information about your laptop. If nothing else, try calling Gateway and ask a representative to help you.
