Unfortunately, it is likely that your computer will encounter some form of system error, malware function or hard-drive crash that causes the operating system to become unstable.
To help computer users resolve these issues, HP includes the HP Recovery Manager in each Compaq Presario.
Use the Recovery Manager to recover your system without the need for any additional software CDs, technical support or repair service.
The recovery process should only be used as a last step in troubleshooting your computer, as all personal data files will be erased during the recovery.

Close any programs running on your computer and remove any unnecessary hardware devices that are connected to the computer.
Restart the computer. Press the "F11" key once your computer begins to start up again and before the Windows logo appears.
The HP Recovery Manager will automatically launch.
Click the "System Recovery" option and click "Next." Select "No" in the Microsoft restore window that opens and click "Next."
Select the "Backup Your Files First" option and connect an external hard drive or insert a blank DVD or CD to store the backup files.
Follow the instructions in the wizard to select the files you want to save.
Click "Next" to begin the restore process.
The Recovery Manager will reformat the hard drives and recover the system to a functional operating condition.

If your Compaq Presario has major issues, restoring it to factory defaults may be the best course of action.
There are a number of situations when completely restoring a computer to its factory settings is the best solution, including resolving virus infections and corrupt operating system files.

Back up all of your user data to a USB thumb drive, external hard drive or other device.
The restore process will destroy all of your data, so this is vital to do.
Turn on your computer and open your CD or DVD drive.
Place the restore CD that came with your Presario into the drive and restart your PC.
If you do not have a restore CD, you can contact Compaq to order one.

Allow the computer to boot up from the restore CD.
You will see a series of messages guiding you through the restoration process, as well as several warnings that all data on the computer will be erased.
Continue the restoration process, and follow the prompts as needed.
You may need to locate the license key for your version of Windows; that key should be located on a label on the top of the computer case.

You can go to "Accessories" In your start menu, then go to "System Tools" then go to "System Restore". Here you can choose a restore point to roll your system back to.

How do i format my laptop sony ns-series completely because it got spyware virus in it and i want to format it completely. thanks

Hi,

The computer is supplied with a recovery partition in the hard drive. You can use the same to restore the computer back to factory settings. Please restart the computer and then press and hold F10 key to access the recovery partition. Once you access the same, please select "Restore C Drive" to perform a System Recovery.

As you have mentioned that the computer is infected by virus, there is a possibility that System Recover using the above method may not eradicate all the virus. In that situation a "Complete System Recovery" will be required. To perform a Complete System Recovery, you need the recovery discs. If you have created the recovery discs before, then you can use the same to perform a complete system recovery.

Else you can purchase the recovery discs from the below link:

https://servicesales.sel.sony.com/ecom/accessories/web/shoppingCart.do?operation=addToCart&itemId=679907&searchOperation=partSearch&searchText=Y8318687A

It is required to purchase the recovery discs only if the first step didn't resolve the issue. I'm providing the second options as additional information.

Hope this helps.

Thanks!!!!

You will need to call Toshiba to obtain another recovery disk. They should be able to send you the disk and you can also request the driver disk for your devices on your PC. Just give them the information about your PC when you call them. Yes you have to call customer or technical support. Your PC hard drive sounds as though it has a virus or some sort and you will have to clear or format the hard drive an reinstall the Windows Operating system. I* suggest "avast" as a anti virus software and or Windows Essentials for Windows XP and Windows 7.

Hp Pavillion dv6000 has disappeared says I do not have one

I trust your are referring to your hard drive.
Sounds like either your hard drive was damaged or has a virus which wiped out information in the partition.
Hard drives can be damaged if the computer is dropped or is handled roughly.
I suspect that your data is lost in either case.
You can try using your recovery CD to restore your operating system and drivers. This will work if your computer had a virus.
If it doesn't work, then your only option is to buy another hard drivve.

If your computer is an HP there is an option at the startup to do a system restore.  Press one of the function keys, to get to it.  Next select "Destructive Recovery" this will reset the entire computer back to when it came to you straight from the factory.  If you do not have that option, try using the system restore by going START, PROGRAMS. ACCESSORIES, SYSTEM TOOLS, and select system restore.  9 out of 10 times this will cause the virus to roll back on its self, hence destroying any trace of it.  Best Regards COMPUTA FIXA
