Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Pls post back to confirm if you are in need of the security code of the car stereo. If yes, the code may be found:

  • inside the owner's manual;
  • the dealer who would require the VIN and proof of ownership.
If not, pls clarify your requirement.

Good luck and Thank you for using FixYa.

Are you sure you have the correct engine model number? What is the year and the make of the car? That makes a big difference as the 305 is a later model engine.

Thanks for the help I just noticed my typo my casting numbers are 3858180 my apologies the engine is a 1965 327 I just cant seem to find what kind of car it was put in if anyone has any suggestions on were...

"You need to get the suffix code off the front pass side, on pad in front of the head. It will be a code thats 6, 7 or 8 digits long. The 1st one will be a letter, next 4 will ne bumbers and last 1, 2, or 3 will be letters.. Like say V0621KH. V0621 if the prefix which tells plant, mo. and day, KH would be the suffix code which tells engine size, HP, induction system, and car it was used in Your 3858180 is not a vin #, it's the casting number and no it does not decode as a corvette. The casting # does not tell what car it was installed in. Its just the size and year range. That # is added before the engine was ever thought of being built and installed. 3858180....327...1964-67...2 bolt main thats all the casting number decodes as."

LOCATION ON ENGINE NUMBER OF KIA SPORTAGE 2005 MODEL

Find the engine identification tag. Attached at the factory, this tag is normally found on the engine block around the coil bolts. The top line of the tag identifies engine size and model year.

Search the block for the engine block casting number. The numbers are raised, not stamped into the block and consist of seven numeric digits. The digits can be located on either side of the block. The seven-digit number may be followed with a dash and further numbers. These are change codes and are not normally necessary to identify the engine.

EX.:

Locate the casting date is located on the block. It is in standard date coding, 2.25.93, for example and may be located on either side of the block, but is commonly located on the driver's side of the block, above the freeze plugs. The example 2.25.93 decodes as February 25, 1993. The casting date may be near the casting clock, which designates the hour the block was cast. Magnum engines were manufactured from 1993 to 2002, so verifying the date code helps identify the engine.

What are the engine codes and what do they stand for? ie: Y= 400 C.I. engine,325 h.p.

What kind of Pontiac engine you have? Is it pre-80's? Pontiac engines have a 2 letter stamp on the front top passenger corner of the engine block. The year is usually next to the distributer hole, and the actual casting number is located on the top rear of block. Some sites offer casting number searches. A good one is wallaceracing.com. They deal with everything from block and cylinder head numbers. If the engine is 1970 or newer, engine size is casted behind the dipstick passenger side of block and also on the front driverside of block too. There are many different variations of codes to list. A example it the engine is made in 1967, casting number is 9786133, code on the right front of block says YE, then it's a 1967 400, that originally had a automatic transmission connected to it, had 10.5 to 1 compression, #066 camshaft, 143 or 061 cylinder heads, 4bbl carb, and 325 horsepower.

Code to convert number to string in SQL

Hi,
You could use a combination of the CONVERT and CAST functions to cast the number as a money type, then convert it to a varchar, and then strip off the decimal point and 2 0's at the end: DECLARE @test int SELECT @test = 12345 SELECT REPLACE(CONVERT(varchar(50), CAST(@test AS money), 1),'.00','')

Were do i find what model transmission i have in my 97' chevy 1500

Hello there
A: There are several types of transmission "numbers," just as there are for the engine. Each major casting in the assembly has its own casting number, and usually a casting date with it. There is also a partial VIN stamped on most post-1967 transmissions. Probably the most important number is the assembly date code.
