Question about Whirlpool LSQ8243H

2 Answers

Whirlpool Lsq8243h After loading the Wahser, the water comes, and then the motor starts, but it wouldn't spin. It tries, but then start making noise. It only happened tonight when I think I loaded the washer with more than I should have. I have done this in the past and don't think that it would break the motor. Seems like that something stuck inside, but I don't have to remove the part that spins and moves the clothes around inside the wahser.

Sorry for the late reply as I was out. Actually, I did that but didn't
find any belt at all. Is the belt supposed to be all the way down
near the edge. I couldn't get underneath the round plate. Any other
    suggestions will be appreciated.

My Whirlpool washer, LSQ8243H, makes a clicking noise, but will not agitate or spin. It still fills with water and the pump still drains the washer.

There is no belt on this machine that I can find. The motor housing appears to be connected directly to the spinning drum.

The drum will not move when I try to move it with my hand. Perhaps there is something stuck inside, but I THINK that the drum doesn't move manually even when the machine is working properly.

    Any ideas?

You are correct, there is no belt on this model. it is a direct drive. The motor drives a gearbox that attaches directly to the drum. Mine is having the same problem and I'm lean toward the gear box being bad.

Unplug washer and lean washer back aganst wall, put something under frount of washer. So you can see under washer .Look and see if the belt are still on the pully or if there streached out (not tight) fix accordingly.

Fills with water and then stops makes a humming sound ,then stops all togther wont do aything spin or drain

sounds like an induction motor. start winding or start capacitor not starting to turn motor, This will make motor hum. Do not know m/c in qestion. Switch on and as soon as pos try to turn motor careful not to use hands or anything that can injure yourself with if it starts to spin.

If it doesn't agitate but will spin it is probably the agitator cams.

If it doesn't spin it is probably the motor drive coupling

Here is a link to the part and a video on how to replace it.
I would suggest watchine the Video before you order the part then you can check if this is the problem.

I hook up the wahser and it will not start. It loaded water and then nothing. what could be wrong?

Hello,

Welcome to FixYa.

It sounds like a common top load washer problem associated with what you've described "
wahser and it will not start. It loaded water and then nothing "...the lid switch assembly.

Here`s how you can check it pretty easily...

( this is based on the most common Whirlpool, Estate, Kitchen-Aid, Roper, Kenmore, Inglis top-load washer, not necessarily applicable to ALL)

Lift the lid, if you observe the underside of the lid there will be a plastic "strike" or "actuator" that goes into a hole when the lid is closed.

Check the hole where the actuator goes into the cabinet and insure you can see a gray oval shaped piece. If so take a small screw-driver, pen/pencil or something small enough to fit thru the small hole and try activating the switch by pushing it down ( machine must be in the agitate or spin cycle ). If you don't see it, the switch has likely broken loose and needs to be replaced.

If it start's to function than the switch is not being contacted properly by the actuator on the lid and likely is due to the switch being worn...unless the actuator on the lid is broke, if so there`s the problem.

Make sure the switch is being held in place via the two screws along the side, if they are loose tighten them, if it is broken, it will need to be replaced.

Here`s a helpful link for changing it out,

The lid switch will look like this...

LSQ8243H does not agitate and spin after water was filled, but pump the water out. What is wrong?

If you hear motor running, then probably bad coupler. Lately I have been seeing more and more bad transmissions in these.

Water refills after a complete cyle. GHw9100L

Had similar problem and ended up being the valve. Try shutting the water off to the wahser during the spin cycle. If the water doesn't refill, that is the issue.

Whirlpool noise

Ok can you take the front panel of the washer off easily?

If you can look for the motor pump assembly. Start the washer with no load, turn the water level down to the small and fill with water when it goes into agitation does it make the noise? if not turn timer to spin and see if motor makes the noise.

One other thought, maybe the smell is coming from the dryer?

Let me know. I wont be on line again until Friday Sorry
