Currently HP provides Linux printing support for over 1,200 HP printers.
Canon periodically releases Linux drivers for certain PIXMA & i-SENSYS products based on global demand.
EPSON Linux Drivers is proprietary and is developed and distributed by AVASYS.

try to use the copier from the printer ,
just put some document in the scanner bed and try to copy.
1 if it does not copy the scanner has gone bad .
2 if it copies then un install the driver and try to insatll it again the drivers would be in the cd which came with the printer also if you have lost them you can download it from www.tinyurl.com/y5m8rm2 and select the oprating system you have and download the driver .
Even if you have deleted them by accident, you can always reinstall using the CD that came with the printer/scanner. If you want to do a clean install, then you would probably have to uninstall also the printer drivers and start from scratch. You may also not uninstall and set it up again. If you go this route, it is also possible that you will have two icons in your printer folder of the same hp printer. Assuming nothing is wrong with the hp, the scanner drivers and app would be reinstalled and presumably you will have access now to your copy/scan functions.
Should like to download the installer/driver for you printer/scanner, it is available at (http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?cc=us&dlc=en&product=79488&lc=en&jumpid=reg_R1002_USEN). You would have to select your operating system.
Hope this works for you. Pls post again how things turn up. Kind regards.
