Question about Sears Craftsman LiftMaster Chamberlain Garage Door Opener Wireless Keypad Model 976LM Security+

1 Answer

Liftmaster key pad opens door with a single number punch

Had a 4 pin code (rotating code system) for many years. suddenly, the door will open or close as soon as i push any number on the key pad. i tried reprogramming this wireless key pad by 1) pushing down the orange learning button on the lift 2) and entering a code within 30 sec on the key pad. didnt work. ONe issue is that after i enter the 4 number PIN, i realize there is no "enter" button on the key pad so i dont know if how i originally programmed it 5 yrs ago.

Sears Craftsman key pad is about 20 years old. Need to re-program code. I know you hit a few numbers then the 4 digit code but I can't remember the #'s.

If it is a wireless keypad do this:

Locate the smart/learn button on the rear of the motor unit near where all those white wires go. Press and immediately release this and then walk over to the keypad and key in any 4 digit code you like and press enter.

If it is hardwired do this:

To program the keypad, first unplug the garage door opener from the electrical outlet. Next, remove the nameplate from the console that the keypad plugs into and locate the program/operate switch. Flip the switch to program. Next, enter your desired four-digit PIN number into the keypad. Slide the switch back to operate and plug the garage door opener back in. The keypad should be programmed.

When I punch in my code, the key pad blinks, and the door won't open. I don't have the remote to open it either.

There is no answer to be had here. It could be that the keypad is bad or it could be the logic board. Without another device you cannot pin it down.

Just bought a new PD210DM opener but still have

I don't know this model. (in australia). the chamberlains here are probably the same. the 4 digit code you first put in the keypad is what you have to use. push the learn button on your operator then punch in your 4 digit No. Hold the enter button on your keypad until the light flashes on the operator.
That should code it in.

Liftmaster Keypad does not operate door

You can try programming the keypad but I have a feeling it has just quit working. To program it: locate the smart/learn button on the rear of the motor unit near where all those white wires go. Press and immediately release this and then walk over to your keypad and key in your PIN and press enter.

Liftmaster wireless keypad closes but won't open the door

If you are sure the battery is good you have a bad keypad. The signal strength is so weak it will not penetrate the door.

My DKE is acting up and now opens 2 of my doors with one code

If you press and hold the smart/learn button for 6 seconds on opener number 1 it will erase the memory and neither code will open it. Now just program it for button number one and you should be set. If you have remotes for door number 1 you will have to reprogram them also.
