The problem is your video card not able to communicate properly with the hardware. To solve this problem you need to install the drivers for your video card. In case you already installed it (long time ago), you need to update the drivers. Check the video card manufacturer for updates.

Good luck.

try to use the menu buttons of the display/screen to reset it to factory defaults and use the auto-adjust option if available. this often resolves common issues specific to the screen itself. it can help help to remove the power cord from the monitor then hold its power button for about 10 seconds to drain any power and test it again using another video cable. you may also want to observe if it flashes when not connected to the video cable and when plugged in to a different power outlet and cord.

I have a E152FP monitor will this work with a graphics card that has a DMS-59 connection

The monitor will work with that video card but the resolution needs to be set to 1024 X 768 or less. Your video card is trying to display the picture at a resolution that the monitor can not handle correctly so you get the video mode error. You will need to use the windows video settings screen to change the settings for that display than you will be good to go.

Plugged in my emachine LE1938 to my dell without the DVI cable, screen displays 'no signal'. Shouldn't the monitor work without the DVI cable?

The DVI cable transports the display signal from the video card to the monitor.

I think what Ron is asking is if you used a different cable to connect the monitor to the computer. (I'm assuming you used an old 15 pin monitor cable or whatever those old cables were?)

Without getting into your BIOS:

So on your computer, you probably have an onboard video card (a video card built into the motherboard itself), and a dedicated video card (probably where you're seeing the DVI out).

It may be possible that you have the on board video card (with the traditional connection) disabled, when the dedicated video card is plugged in.

This isn't rocket science, so don't worry. Phillips head screwdriver is all you need.

Pull the side panel off your computer (assuming it's a tower... if not, it's the top panel). Once you have it off, you'll see that video card plugged into a slot on the motherboard, with 1 phillips head screw holding it in place (inside, near the back, where the DVI port is).

Pull the screw, and the video card should come out. From there, the BIOS should recognize your card is missing, and thus revert to using the onboard video card.

DELL E153FPf doesn't show the image

OSD Warning Messages A warning message may appear on the screen indicating that the monitor is out of sync range.
Cannot Display This Video Mode
This means that the monitor cannot synchronize with the signal that it is receiving from the computer. Either the signal is too high or too low for the monitor to use. See Specifications for the Horizontal and Vertical frequency ranges addressable by this monitor. Recommended mode is 1024x768 @ 60Hz.
Occasionally, no warning message appears, but the screen is blank. This could also indicate that the monitor is not synchronizing with the computer or the monitor is in a power save mode.

Monitor is black with message "Cannot Display This Video Mode".

the computer is having problems displaying the video mode from the tower. Im not sure what kind of flat panel monitor you have but you should have a menu button there where you can choose video input. its either VGA(analog) or DVI(Digital). if you are using the monitor cable with the blue connector use VGA if its the white cable use DVI.

hope this resolves the problem. thanks.
